The Dutch are surprisingly good value looking at that. A little double with them and either the Argies or the Germans wouldn't be too bad.

I've also got a double of Honduras and New Zealand to finish bottom of their respective groups, at just over evens.

ladbrokes:
£5= spain brazil final returns £55
england to win 4-0 vs USA returns 105
uruaguay to beat france/greece to beat south korea returns £51.50
arg/eng/germ/holl/brazil/italy/spain to top their groups returns £77
spain top scorers (scratch) (E/W) returns £55

888bet: arg beat nigeria, eng beat usa, germany beat australia, holland beat denmark, brazil beat north korea. £20 returns £116

all that only cost me a fiver (all winnings amount to 477) . Should be getting a free instore bet but dunno how to claim it.

Few of the columnists in the Racing Post thought it was a very easy lay, tricky looking group.

Ok, I will be honest about my probable money losing bets!

Spread betting:

Wnr 100pts, r/u 75pts, beaten SF 50pts, beaten qf 25pts, beaten 2nd round 10pts, did not qualify 0pts.

Buy Mexico 8-10
Buy Serbia 12-14
Buy Paraguay 14-16
Buy Spain 43-46
Sell Ivory Coast 14-16
Sell South Africa 6-8
Sell France 24-27

I am very scared. It is not an over-exaggeration to say IF South Africa beat Mexico, it will be the financially worst result of my betting career to date. You could even murk me if the stakes weren't so high!

------------------------------------------------PLUS---------------------------------------
Need 5 from 6 to get a bit more than money back - all six for over a grand.

To qualify
• MEXICO @ 10/11
• SERBIA @ 5/6
• CHILE @ 4/6
• PORTUGAL @ 8/13
• PARAGUAY @ 1/2
• CAMEROON @ 11/10

You'll need to tell me if you've won or lost because I haven't got a clue what you've done there.

Ok, so I have bought Spain at 46. Lets just say I had done it at 5 pounds per point (I wish)....... if they end up as runners up they will get 75 points. So (assuming I have done no trading on that bet during the tournament) I would win my stake per point x 29 (75-46). So 5 x 29 = £145. Likewise if they fail to qualify from group I would lose 5 x 46 = £230.

No, dangerously I place through a trader friend - they know they are good for it so you don't need to put up maximum downside in advance... :|

I feel uncomfortable about the bets to be honest. Could be in big trouble!

I would say that the opening game of the world cup in an unstable country could well result in a S.Africa win tomorrow.

I for one am puting a tenner down on a S.Africa/France double to start the world cup of with.

Also going on Ladbrokes later to open an account (£5.00 in to get 4 x £5.00 free bets apparently)

I still have not much idea what's going on but, needless to say, come on the Saffers - do it for the lulz.

You can set up different types of account with the likes of Sporting Index, one being a credit-style account so that there are no immediate liabilities but should you lose they withdraw the money from your account automatically. Doing so seems pretty dangerous in my eyes, I could see myself chasing any loses if I were to have such easy access with no liabilities at the outset of the bet.
