If y'all's boys can't beat this crew of beans 'n' franks, then Fab oughtta direct the team coaches leaving the ground to head str7 for the airport

England 3-1 of course, followed by the inevitabLOLe round of celebr7ion and mick-taking in here --as though y'all just won the whole goddamned thing, and with your very own precious feet no less

bobbybottler nice thread titling skills, just missing a match number

Group ID would do no harm, either (although likely wouldn't fit --and here a due nod to your WC match thread rules as spelt out in the Match 1 thread)

I can't see anyone taking the piss outta the americans on here to be honest Chi. Think that calls a bit wide of the mark.

England are expected to win of course but it won't be as easy as people make out and the USA are not there to make up the numbers by any means.

I love the world cup but it also makes me cringe, loads of bandwagon jumpers hop on and start predicting outrageous scorelines for England to win by and how " we're going all the way" and its embarrassing make us look like idiots to the other home nations and they LOL twice as loud when we get knocked out.

Just then on studio 5 they had a dog predicting the scoreline and same random gay sounding black presenter claiming " hat-trick from rooney, easy". Just shut up and watch the football.

Nah, not at all

Are we in an "easy" fed? Sure, and in much the same way that England really shouldn't have trouble qualifying out of any group with an auto berth plus a playoff but make a meal nonetheless out of taking maximum points out of Macedonia and Azerbaijan (or Honduras and Guatemala, as it might be) along the way --it's a ridiculous game like that

Still, we haven't gotten any better since 2002 (when, just to reach the knockout stage, we needed the South Koreans to beat Portugal as Poland were slaughtering us out of the gate in the final group stage matches); in the meantime, the RotW has improved, and by leaps and bounds in a good few cases

In other words, we're getting worse, and until our national team is no longer the exclusive province of these pink-cheeked suburban boys --just the name Landon Donovan says it all-- and well-behaved hotshot immigrants and instead start finding kids who have to fight their way to and from skool every day, we're going to remain about as useful a footballing nation as China and India

It's just irksome

I don't think you give yourselves enough credit, you'd be expected to beat the likes of scotland, wales, rep of ireland( maybe not expected but would give them a game),etc all of which have a far bigger footballing history.

You just need more players to emulate Edu.

19-50 clap-clap clap-clap-clap

1-0 to the USA

Jay Demerit scores on a set piece to really set off Floyd.

Ps - Chi: Having under-priviledged kids from rough neighboorhoods in your squad might not help the U.S. The keys to World Cup success is population size, having experience (playing in many world cups) and being an affluent nation. The U.S. will catch up with everyone one day, it might be sooner than you think:

1-1 with England to win the remaining two games.

If we do win, it'll be a spawny goal against the run of play.

One thing to watch for: whenever we --the good ol' stars 'n' stripes-- gain possession at the back in matches played away and on neutral ground, our boys tend to panic if they get run at when on the ball

I'm guessing that an old hand the like of Fab has spotted this tendency and has issued specific instructions accordingly

Sorry Seahawk, but I disagree. There is a massive gap in the development of players when they reach high school age (15) and a massive swathe of talented kids are lost to the game at an essential point in their education and progression as players. I coach at a club and have been gutted at seeing very talented kids drift away from the game. Why? I believe very much that it is a cultural barrier, which I can never see broken in the US because even the very best player will not have a career to look forward to when football is ranked - in popularity as well as wealth - way below even ice hockey.

The other cultural difference is that fans in the US cannot appreciate the subtlety of the game and have the attention span of goldfish: they want points, scores, goals every minute and time-outs for yet another lardburger and therefore have no concept of how precious a goal is and how difficult it is to score one. The kids and parents of the team I coach are enthusiastic about playing, but outside of that, they have no interest in watching the game and educating themselves in it. Most of the parents had no idea about the England v US game today.
