Clark turned away following the ball and Gerrard ended up standing a yard goal side of him. England got a slightly lucky break which allowed Gerrard to break forward and Clark had no chance of catching him. These things happen in football, it's hardly a gaffe.

If someone had been left unmarked off a corner or wandered off the post then fair enough but I wouldn't hang the fella out to dry for it.
