we knew we needed 4 million just to plug the gaps anyway. matejovski off the wages plus the 650k will help. get shot of cisse too and it will be pretty much done. then we just have to sell a couple of other players to buy more, or use the loan market again.

its dissapointing though, i agree

Royal_Delight Title says it all. oxf*rd.

You seem surprised.

£4M shortfall less £650K fee less £750K wages equals shortfall of £2.6M. There is no money to reinvest.

At the end of the day the best we can hope for is perhaps one or two additional defenders this summer (probably frees or loans) and to hold on to as many of the current squad as possible.

Not really surprised. Still, I thought there would at least be some money to spend. Promotion candidates for next season? Ha!

but we could easily be promotion candidates if we get in a free or loan or two
if we cant buy griff or kish, why not loan them again?!

I'll take anything better than "complete shower of pish for half a season" tbh

If Griff does not want to come if we were to buy him, chances he will not want to come if we were to loan him IMO.

Do you really believe the financial news about Reading Fc from the press is the actual truth?

It is in Reading's interest to keep the real truth secret...............look as if we're virtually penniless. Keeps the transfer fees down.

No money from sale of Matejovsky to be reinvested =/= no money to be spent.

Besides, as others have said it's not a big surprise really is it, we know the budget is tight this year. Then again it was supposed to be tight last year and we still spent circa £2m on Mills.

£60million Prem money - none of it available

Oh, it went to pay off our debts

£millions more from player sales - none of it available

Oh, that went to pay of our debts too

£millions more from parachute payments - none of it available

Oh we had debts to pay

£even more millions from more player sales and wages - none of it available

Oh hang on, debts to pay

Marek gets sold for £650k plus wage savings - none of it available

Guess what? More debts to pay

With almost all the money from almost everything constantly going towards our deficits this has got to be an extremely badly run club!

I think we might have had a couple of quid going out somewhere over the last 4 years, but hey, I'll bow to your expert knowledge of our income & expenditure.

What do some people want from the club? Be sensible or not? The way some idiots go on about spending money as if it is going out of fashion makes me wonder how their own personal finances shape up!

Daily Mirror make a story from an assumption in the local press and suddenly one or two muppets here decide to crank out the old nonsense.

I also get confused by the bit where people say we need to generate £4 million.

Well given the levels of personal debt in the country I suspect they may owe a feck load of money.

Thaumagurist*

Nothing new really, it was mentioned in the EP too yesterday.

All I can infer from this is that the money generated from the sale wasn't considered large enough to re-invest. Which means it might not have been as much as the reported £650K.

Good job you don't work for the police if that is all you can infer! How can any sum of money not be considered large enough to reinvest?!!

Please send all your sums of money too small to reinvest to me and I will dispose of them for you!

They shape up extremely well thank you. Probably because I realise that you have to speculate to accumulate and that if you don't spend a decent amount of money to maintain your assets, they gradually deteriorate!

Why would he want to do so? Maybe it's time for some other plums to acknowledge that perhaps the club wasn't run quite so splendidly as some on the inside kept telling us. Perhaps not badly run but certainly not the next Arsenal etc!
