Closer inspection revealed the words Groclin Dyskoblia on the backs of their shirts...at which point I knew exactly what it meant

After being awful all season, they're 1 point from safety, albeit with Wisla as one of their last two opponents. Still, they are masters of the unlikely victory, so maybe Ekstraklasa football will remain in that backwater of Upper Silesia for another year.

Well. They lost the winnable game (home to Śląsk Wrocław), so now have to win at Wisła and hope Arka and Piast Gliwice both lose.
It's annoying how a season which has involved doing the double over Legia has sunk to this depth, but really Odra have been on the brink of relegation for years now - it's just that this season only Jagiellonia have been docked points for corruption, rather than 4 or 5 teams as the case has been. The sad thing is, Odra have yet to be found guilty of any fixing (I use that term as it wouldn't be entirely unfair to assume guilt until proven otherwise when it comes to corruption in Poland), yet teams who've suffered demotions and the like are now back in the Ekstraklasa, almost as strong as before. Still, all this helps to explain why only 3 Polish teams can regularly expect gates topping 10.000. And unsurprisingly, these comprise three of this season's top four. Bleak viewing...

handbags_harris KNVB Beker Final 1st Leg - Ajax 2-0 Feyenoord.
Siem de Jong scored both, the opener on 6 minutes, the second on 7 minutes. Feyenoord have it all to do at de Kuip on May 6th. Ajax should see this through as, on this showing and the meetings between the sides over the season, Ajax are a far superior side.
For those that are interested, KNVB Beker final 2nd leg:
Feyenoord 1-4 Ajax.
Feyenoord thoroughly outlayed on their own patch, but it's of no consequence really as Feyenoord are through to the Europa League by virtue of their 4th place finish.
Spoke to Ed in the week, somewhat biassed in his opinions but he was saying the KNVB are very pro-Ajax and pandered to them so the final could be 2-legged whinging about the away-fans ban and the fact that if they were able to take fans they would only be able to take 2k. Seems fair enough to me, but when you hate a club as much as Feyenoord fans hate Ajax then any victory is sweet, any defeat extremely bitter.

Marseille were champions going in; the rest of the top five were unsettled (top two to UCL group stage; third to UCL play-off round; fourth to UEL play-off round; fifth --owing to Marseille winning the Coupe de la Ligue-- to UEL third qualifying round; the table went...

Lyon beat relegated Le Mans 2-0, so it was on Lille to do the business away to Lorient...where they came up short, losing 2-1 after scoring first and later missing from the spot, and the failure to secure at least a point knocked them out of the Champions League frame altogether as Lyon finished in second and Auxerre in third; Lille are into the play-off round of the Europa League, and Montpellier be entered at the third qualifying round

LOL @ finishing on 96 points and not being champions. Oh well, couldn't have happened to a more classless club I suppose.
O yeh, Bayern completed the domestic double by defeating Werder 4-0 in the DFB-Pokal final. What's really annoying about this Bayern is how pleasant their football is to watch. They've largely eradicated the spawny 1-0s for lovely attacking play and an excellent youth development program - Muller and Badstuber being two examples of home-grown players who've starred this season. They're still weisswurst-chewing bastards though.
