Stephen Hunt praises Reading FC

by Halifax 4-1 » 22 Jun 2010 12:46

From Tribal Football

Wolves signing Stephen Hunt has fired a parting shot at former club Hull City.

Hunt hit out at the way the club have nothing to show for their two-year spell in the Barclays Premier League but fond memories and debts of around £35million.

The Republic of Ireland international said: "At Reading we had a good structure, when we got promoted the club improved the training ground, they improved everything to go with it".

"The thing I will say about Hull is it was disappointing that the facilities never really got any better.

"The training ground probably got worse because it got older, a lot of money has probably gone from there that should have been spent on the structure of the club and to secure the future in terms of at least a good academy.

"But all they have are memories for the fans, and that's all they've got really. It's disappointing for the players as well I think.

"It's Adam Pearson's job now and he's got a difficult job but he'll get them in the right direction eventually."

Nothing to show as they spunked their Prem money on paying lots of average players over the odds wages.

Do you think Stephen would have volunteered to reduce his wages so that the club had more money to spend on the training facilities?

They paid far too much money for him, for a start.

But the Football Creditors Rule ensures we get that money ahead of all other creditors if (when...) Hull does go tits up.

Why not sue them now? Into administration they go and a ten point deduction. Have Burnley paid for Bikey?

Because that would be a oxf*rd, nasty thing to do - and one day it would come back and bite us.

They're not even late with a payment, so how could we?

How do you know?

Which does beg the question, how did we ever agree to sell him without being sure that we'll get all of the money in the first place?

We weren't the only ones who Hull lied to about money. Repeat after me - It's. Not. Always. Our. Fault.

Well Hull fans seem to have nothing but praise for the guy.

But that won't suit peoples argument.

Do you know that they're late?

Most business in this country is done with a certain amount of credit and I believe a decent proportion of transfers are not just cash upfront deals. I don't really see why this deal should be any different to any other.

Thaumagurist* Yeah, but most business would make sure that they'd get the money one way or other, probably in the form of collateral, e.g. the bank will take possession of the house if mortgage payments are not being paid back. Maybe we'd better take back Stephen Hunt!

So when the Weatherman Geek Centre in Exeter order more printer toner, or sign up for their internet connection so that we get your celebrated contribution on here, what collateral do their suppliers get apart from a contract to pay under their terms of contract?

Indeed, this thread is excellent as it includes two of my favourite things about this board, obsessive h8ing of former players and inside knowledge of all transfer dealings the club has been involved with. If only someone could somehow link it to being a better fan than someone else it would thread of the year

Well I bought a season ticket for those games when Hunt was here and watched him shin it into the North stand week in week out.

You weren't there as much so you can't understand the h8.

I've been fearlessly exposing the truth about the club's hopeless transfer dealing since the debacle of the Osborn - Meaker + unspecified amount of cash deal, as you would know were you as good a fan as me.

And whatever happened to all the money we got for Curle :x
