Ian Royal Looked to be a bit of a card magnet too in terms of an entire season of play.

Good grief

Probably the most composed (under pressure and not) defender that I have ever seen at Reading

If Ian Royal slates him he must be a superstar.

Ian Royal Meh, I'd probably have him starting ahead of those two, but I just don't think it's that clear cut.

Ian Royal I'm taking the middle ground. Very good, but not so good as to make me think he's a must have and will change our season, or that he is necessarily head and shoulders above Pearce and Ivar, but probably a better option than Pearce or Ivar.

He's not head and shoulders above Pearce and Ivar. He is head, shoulders, knees and toes above them. And eyes and ears and mouth and nose, for that matter.

Agree !

If Zurab is so far ahead of Ivar and Pearce then Darius is somewhere the other side of the known universe ahead of Zurab IMHO !!

Personally I'm in the camp that says we haven;t really seen enough of Zurab to judge. I am a little concerned that he's a 'short term' player, which Ivar certainly has never been. Would Zurab give us 46 games ? Is his apparant composure actually more a Bikey like over confidence that will cost us at times as he tries to waltz his way from the edge of our 6 yard box one time too often ?

I think he's been massively over hyped by many, his career record for me has lots of questions in it - he moves clubs often, and doesn;t play too many games for each one.....but I also would like us to sign him as he clearly is a good player !!

dont care what his record is elsewheer, im judging him on last seasons performances for us, and in them he looked better than both. this season youd expect pearce may improve, and ivar may get worse. he is a good bet, as we know him, and he knows us, so we may as well get him if hes cheap/free, if not its no biggy to go get someone else

Zurab is 28 and Ivar is 33 in August. Ivar has just signed a new contract; now that is what I call a 'short term' signing!

Looks like Sun Tzu has resigned himself to Zurab not joining us so he can get his we don't need him anyway spin in early 8)

Given his normal posting I don't really care what he thinks. He comes across as about 12 anyway.

Personally when I saw Khiz play I thought he rode the line with pushes and so on. He's not going to clatter anyone regularly like Mills does... I just think over the season he'll pick up a fair few yellows for cynical defending.

I'm assuming you know what I mean....

I think he'll sign, as I've always said.

But I don't post for the pose value

Not really one to talk IR give that all your comments are based more on perception than fact!

When Zurab came into the side he looked solid and clever. By clever, I mean that he would frequently give the forward a subtle nudge to unbalance him. This would make his job easier. Certainly a far better option than Pearce. Then again, Cisse or Gunnarson are better options at the back than Pearce. Fact remains that he will not come unless we sell someone.

You really are a spazatron. Come back when you've grown some hair on both your head and testicles. Ricardo Carvalho knows when to nudge players and when and when not to put pressure on players as well Ian, it doesn't make him a 'card magnet', it makes him a good professional with experience who knows what he's doing you absolute mong.

Of course Zurab is better than Ivar is NOW. And I doubt very much that Ivar will be present in the team for all 46 games this season. If we can afford Zurab, we should sign him.

That's what everyone's comments are based on. Opinion does not equal fact. Despite what many of the mongs on here might tell you, I don't make a judgement on a player without having seen them play for us.

I don't know what your problem is. I've said I'd be quite happy to see Khiz come back. I just don't feel it's the be all and end all like some of you do.

Keeping or buying ANY player is not the be all and end all.

We've lost every decent player we've ever had at this club, bar a couple of dozen and we've always survived.

Players are just passing through....
