The club will be making a clear statement if we sell McAnuff. He's one of the best wingers in this league, and if we have any ambitions of a top six finish, he has to be here next season.

Wycombe Royal According to Sky anyway. They say the bid was £1.5m.

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_6237507,00.html?
Reading have turned down an offer from Queens Park Rangers for winger Jobi McAnuff, skysports.com understands.

The 28-year-old is being tracked by a number of clubs, but Rangers are leading the chase and they tested Reading's resolve with an offer worth around £1.5million.
McAnuff had a very good season with the Royals last year, and Reading are seemingly keen to keep him.

The former Watford, Crystal Palace and Cardiff has two years left on his current deal at the Madejski Stadium.

It now remains to be seen if QPR will come back with a bigger bid, or if any of McAnuff's other suitors will join the bidding.

Highlighted bit is the key for me - the offer is worth £1.5M. For all we know, that could be £500K up front with £1M if QPR get promoted in the next few years. The club may prefer to get as much of that £1.5M in one go (albeit over a set amount of installments as with all modern football transfers)

The media don't get these reports from nowhere so I would guess it is QPR or McAnuff's agent (more unlikely unless he wants to leave) in an attempt to unsettle the player.

With Warnock anything is possible.....

Seeing as we have reached page two without mentioning it, a good signing by Rodgers.

It stinks on Colin if we are being honest.

Pretty confident that we have the best 2 wingers in the league in Kebe/McAnuff.

It all depends which McAnuff turns up for you. Was probaly one of the best players under Rodgers and did well into January but since then has not managed to consistently match those performances.

However, for a winger, that seems pretty standard fare so why change unless there is someone more consistent out there (or the amount of money being offered is ridiculous for a 28/29 year old).

Royalee McAnuff on the left against Watford at home when he ran the show, Kebe on the left in the cup v West Brom at home when he scored from kick off, Kebe again on the left when he 'came of age' away at Palace, McAnuff on the left away at Leicester, Kebe on the left when we stuffed Coventry, McAnuff on the left when he scored and was excellent as we stuffed Peterborough 6-0, McAnuff scoring again on the last day of the season against Preston from the left.

Give up Ian.

Ian Royal Kebe and McAnuff both seemed to prefer playing on the right, with McAnuff putting in some fairly poor performances once he was moved to the other flanks. That's one reason I would consider accepting multiple millions.

It's not like we can't find another good winger for £500k - £1m if QPR want to chuck money at us. And we have HRK and Henry to fall back on, and some more young attackers coming through the ranks.

Ian, seriously, do you read your posts before you hit submit?

I was waiting for you to answer whether you thought McAnuff had a poor second half of the season in comparison to his first half and Kebe's second half.

He wasn't really looking up to speed at Watford or Palace. Nor home against Newcastle from what I remember. The point being, both seem to prefer to play on the right to me, so a specialised left winger, who is left footed, might prove just as good for us, for a fraction of the fee we'd let him go for.

You seem to want to polarise everything I say to make it seem an extremism. You're acting like I've said McAnuff is shit and we should offload him, when in fact I like him and want us to keep him. I just recognise that every player has their price and him going for several million wouldn't necessarily hurt us.

If you want to go off at the deep end for the smallest thing I say, knock yourself out. All it suggests to me is that you're desperately trying to get one over on me after looking stupid for a lot of the things you've been saying the last year or so.

Thats what happens when you base your opinions on NOT watching ANY games. He still doesn't give up.

Plan to watch many games this season Ian?

I just gave you 6 examples of it working out in the second half of the season Ian, before I even bothered to flick through games. Nobody looked up to speed against Watford and we played well for long spells against Newcastle. If anything either are more effective on the left where they can cut in.

I don't polarise your views, I just take them at face value, read what you've said and invariably rip it to pieces as you have absolutely no idea about football and base your opinions mostly on what you read or hear. You contradict yourself more than anyone on here and as soon as you're proven wrong you try and change your story. At least have the balls to stick by what you've posted like I do once in a while.
