The Non - League thread

by Four Of Clubs » 01 Jul 2010 22:21

Well thought it was about time I started off the new one - the following Blue Sq Conference fixtures have been scheduled for Sat 14th August:-

BLUE SQUARE BET PREMIER

Crawley Town v Grimsby Town
Darlington v Newport County
Gateshead v Kettering Town
Hayes & Yeading United v Bath City
Histon v Barrow
Luton Town v Altrincham
Mansfield Town v Forest Green Rovers
Rushden & Diamonds v Fleetwood Town
Southport v AFC Wimbledon
Tamworth v Eastbourne Borough
Wrexham v Cambridge United
York City v Kidderminster Harriers

BLUE SQUARE SOUTH

Basingstoke Town v Chelmsford City
Braintree Town v Farnborough
Bromley v Dorchester Town
Dartford v Havant & Waterlooville
Eastleigh v Bishops Stortford
Ebbsfleet United v Maidenhead United
Staines Town v Lewes
Thurrock v St. Albans City
Welling United v Hampton & Richmond Borough
Weston-super-Mare v Boreham Wood
Woking v Dover Athletic

... and here's a link to the rest of the Conference South via the official site:-

http://www.footballconference.co.uk/fix ... ate=082010

.... actually apologies if I may have started this thread off @rse about face since a few of the lower local leagues will be starting the w/e before 7th August and the Hellenic during that previous midweek.

Also think the FA CUP Extra Preliminary Round is due to be played on the 14th too - draw for that due out early next week.

Will update/add accordingly! :P

... bit of ex-Royals news lifted from the tickertape on the above site too:-

Outside bet for playoffs in BSP next season, Crawley Town. Splashing the cash this summer and bringing in lots of proven players.

Will be doing a few more than, foregoing trips to such tedious northern outposts as Middlesbrough and Derby.

If anyone's interested, this is the centenary season of the Fizzers, and next Friday they're celebrating with a match at Bottom Meadow vs an AFC Wimbledon XI. Appropriate, as Sandhurst were the first League opponents of AFCW.

Want some easy money then lump on Salisbury in Zameretto league. Kept most of their players, added a few more and technically finished sixth in conference. Saying that there are some quality match ups in this division next season.

I love to see Bashley still at it. A club i refereed lots when coming through the ranks and nice ground in middle of new forest.

Zamaretto Fixtures due out Wednesday week (14th) could be interesting to see when 'The Whites' will be playing @ Windsor, Diddy and Chesham - to gauge how they've adjusted to the drop of two Steps - might pop along if they are midweek games?

They could also be challenged by Truro, Leamington or Stourbridge.

Also intrigued by how Weymouth will perform - they've suffered 'a bit of dip' too on and off the field.

.... agree on the Bashley thing - went a few years back - middle of bleedin' nowhere (try looking up 'Bashley' on your average A-Z/Road Atlas) - so surprising to see a relatively succesful Pyramid side flourishing there.

Genuinely don't know where the supporters come from, like you said it's
literally in the middle of nowhere. Bit like Brockenhurst who played in the Wessex league.

That's because W&E are a mickey-mouse little club and the second biggest in the Royal Borough, perhaps even third biggest behind Holyport 8)

It's probably not a market that will be priced up, but Hampton will get relegated this season.
