Dirk Gently
Ian Royal How can a player who tries to kick the ball, and is clearly obscuring the keeper's view and affecting his decisions not be considered active for the purposes of offside?

Because he was level when the ball was kicked and deflected.

He quite clearly wasn't although I want Holland to be in the final, which they now will be.

Cracking header. Scoreline doesn't really reflect the balance of play.

Nice goal there, 2nd one was offside. Could sense the 3rd happening though, the offside goal knocked the stuffing out of Uruguay.

This could well be Holland's year. They have been absolutely Nigel Mediocre every game i've seen them but they win somehow.

And thats exactly it. They win, even after not playing to their full potential. England play mediocre and lose or draw. They've played tournament football extremely well, and getting to the final is no fluke.

Shame the linos have got a few decisions wrong in this game. That one included.

Jerry St Clair
Zammo
Kitsondinho Why is Clive on his own?

Was thinking the same. Weird. Beglin heart attack ?

Mention on the Telegraph blog that "like Jim Beglin, Uruguay haven't turned up". Other than that, a complete mystery. haven't seen a football match with single person commentary since Wolstenholme in 1966.

He did say at the start of the game that Beglin had been taken ill this afternoon but that he'll be back in time for the final.

Odd that they didn't get someone to fill in though, although it's made it less annoying to listen to!

At least one player appearing in this years World Cup Final will have tasted defeat against Reading during the past season.

Thats mental really, because I bet before he walks out for the final on Sunday he'll think to himself "Shit, I lost to Reading this season. Nah, don't fancy it".

Like in horse racing and the "view from the other angle" i bet you from referee's assistant side i bet it looks on side, hardly nothing in it at all. Fair decision and tv in my opinion inconclusive on that one.
