Royalee McAnuff on the left against Watford at home when he ran the show, Kebe on the left in the cup v West Brom at home when he scored from kick off, Kebe again on the left when he 'came of age' away at Palace, McAnuff on the left away at Leicester, Kebe on the left when we stuffed Coventry, McAnuff on the left when he scored and was excellent as we stuffed Peterborough 6-0, McAnuff scoring again on the last day of the season against Preston from the left.

At this level, they're both more than good enough on either side. Consistency is the only concern.

Anyway, come on Jobi, you know you have a chance of a shot at the Prem if the squad sticks together. Don't risk that for another transfer payday.

Royalee
Ian Royal I was waiting for you to answer whether you thought McAnuff had a poor second half of the season in comparison to his first half and Kebe's second half.

He wasn't really looking up to speed at Watford or Palace. Nor home against Newcastle from what I remember. The point being, both seem to prefer to play on the right to me, so a specialised left winger, who is left footed, might prove just as good for us, for a fraction of the fee we'd let him go for.

You seem to want to polarise everything I say to make it seem an extremism. You're acting like I've said McAnuff is shit and we should offload him, when in fact I like him and want us to keep him. I just recognise that every player has their price and him going for several million wouldn't necessarily hurt us.

If you want to go off at the deep end for the smallest thing I say, knock yourself out. All it suggests to me is that you're desperately trying to get one over on me after looking stupid for a lot of the things you've been saying the last year or so.

I just gave you 6 examples of it working out in the second half of the season Ian, before I even bothered to flick through games. Nobody looked up to speed against Watford and we played well for long spells against Newcastle. If anything either are more effective on the left where they can cut in.

I don't polarise your views, I just take them at face value, read what you've said and invariably rip it to pieces as you have absolutely no idea about football and base your opinions mostly on what you read or hear. You contradict yourself more than anyone on here and as soon as you're proven wrong you try and change your story. At least have the balls to stick by what you've posted like I do once in a while.

Don't agree with all of this. We were disappointing against Newcastle. The team worked hard that night but there was an awful lot of huffing and puffing and we barely created a chance all evening. McAnuff was very ordinary in that game.

I wouldn't be happy if he did go, but I'd put money on McAnuff (like pretty much every player @ RFC) having his price. If they bid enough we'll see it as good business, then get in a replacement.

Hope he doesn't go, we're supposed to be building a title contending team not dismantling one.

I like Jobi a lot
I like Kebe a lot

But both are known for their INconsistency.

If they both have a full season for us and are always 90-100% of their top form, we'll get automatic promotion.

But they may well NOT start on fire or have long barren spells. Jobi was "known" as that kind of player
when he came to us.

It may be that Miracle Man McDermott can get a full, consistently brilliant season out of Jobi,
and if we knew beforehand that this would be the case, then YES, keep him.

But should we actually be offered maybe 2 Million, we'd have to seriously consider the money.

We have loads of alternatives.

Kebe for Jobi, Gylfi on the other wing and 4-4-2

Antonio or Henry or HRK coming in as a straight replacment...

2M might get us our 20-goal striker, or a second brilliant centre-back so we win a lot of 1-0s.

PS Did anyone notice Mac on Reading World hinting that the squad was going to be trimmed a bit before the season started?

Can't see us getting Tyson from Forest as a replacement. Surely he'd cost quite a lot? I can see us using some of any money from McAnuff, but not a huge amount. I'd be holding out on Jobi for an absolute minimum of £2m. And that would have to be front loaded.

If this is true and If he goes. Then I strongly feel it will be between Henry and HRK battling it out for the vacant space on the flank. They've been patiently waiting for a chance and IMO will be given it.
I would mention Antonio but i dont rate him whatsoever and the only reason we gave him a year is so we can get some cash in January for him.

Except no one will pay any kind of money for an unproven youngster with a few months left on his contract...
Even if he goes on loan this season and is superb anyone wanting him will just wait for next summer and get him for nothing.....

Dream On

Any money recieved will disappear without trace. Not a penny of it will be spent on players

And, we WILL sell if we recieve the right price...no doubt about it.

Like all clubs I guess.... we're no different to all the others and not sure why anyone expects us to be.

Not sure the money will disappear. it's never been the case in the past.

Can't speak for the away games, as I only went to the cup ones last season, I did however go to all the home games so I can speak from what I saw at those.

I'd say McAnuff played consistently last season. The first half of the season when Kebe was like a lost soul, he eclipsed him with his assists and all round play. In the second half it was the opposite and Kebe showed that playing the right way he can be the best winger in the league, and performance wise overtook McAnuff. I wouldn't say McAnuff's performances dropped so to speak, but that Kebe's role in the team became much more prominent.

I'll be devastated if we sell McAnuff, devastated. Says it all that one of the reasons Marcus Williams chose Reading was to play with Jobi. He's a massive part of our team and for me across the whole of last season he was one of our best players.

Probs means fcuk all, but Jobi's modelling the new kit tomorrow, doubt they'd have him do it if he was on the verge of leaving.
