buzzby How about the Isle of Scilly football league

Only 2 teams in it.

http://www.worldssmallestleague.co.uk/html/league_table.html

23 goals in those 2 games though :!: more than worthwhile

Skyline ...is the WC 3rd/4th place 'playoff'. Seriously, does anyone really give two shiny ones about this game? The only reason it exists is so that FIFA can squeeze a bit more money out of broadcasters and advertisers.

What they should do, is that the winners of this match, providing they qualify for next tournament become seeds for the following world cup.

Actually you might have hit on something there - if world ranking points are at stake, then the original assertion is surely categorically wrong.

It's normally a lot better than the final tbf. Expect a lot of goals between my two favourite teams of the tournament.

World ranking points will be at stake in the 3rd place play off, same as they are in all competitive games.

Can't for the life of me remember who we played in 1990 or the whether we won or lost.

Surprised they dont also have games for the losing QFs, and last 16 just so we can get a clear picture of the top 16 seeds in the world. In fact why not just lump the 32 qualifiers into one league with everyone playing each other once to determine the best of the lot.

Italy, we lost. Defensive fukk up. (Forget who was to blame - Parker? Shilton?)

I was there, it was Shilton.
I can see why FIFA do it, but as a player I'd imagine that you'd just want to go home.

Shilton dicking about not picking it up - it looks frankly appalling to post-backpass-rule eyes

Oh yeah. He must have had some money riding on the result.

Sun Tzu The Charity Shield is an utter waste of everyone's time. Although of course it does give Man Utd and Chelsea the chance to claim 'treble's'

Alledgedly, the Community Shield raises money for local community projects.

Haven't missed a game yet and am watching it out of force of habit

And yet I walk no fewer than three times past a full, open pack of smokes that I see on the ground this morning --my old brand, even, albeit in menthol

Anywas*, summat wrong w/Poldi, Klose and Lahm --or is Yogi just doing what he can to give some of the squaddies a sniff?

Happy for Mueller. Has to be young player of the tournament. Great game so far, good goal from Cavani. Shame Suarez's getting booed. Klose's missing because of flu, must be ill as it's his last chance to break Klose's record.

A pretty generic and a "quatroperennial" (no such word) question there, from one of the "main HNA men" (maybe you've been listening to too many TalkSquawk radio presenters just lately?).

To me...........any football during the closed season, is better than no football, and is therefore, good football (not to mention, a World stage Bronze medal to play for).

Tell the full stadium, the competitive players and the miniscule population of Uruguay that 3rd place counts for nothing.

Millions of England fans would've settled for this "most pointless game" I'm sure

All in all, a silly statement and maybe just subjective opinion, but why not do away with bronze medals at the olympics too......
