A lot of the "so called players" had a mare too.PEARCEY The right team won but the wrong man reffed it. Webb had a mare.

(unlike a lot) Webb did nothing previous to this game to NOT ref this WC final

Ian Royal Webb's main mistake was trying to keep the Final whole as a spectacle and trying to talk the players into good behaviour. There should have been a point where he said enough is enough though. Although lets not forget he was the first ref to book Van Bommel for a foul, which is unbelievable given how he was fouling!
I think the Dutch claims that Elia was fouled before the Spanish goal are valid, and that Heitinga's red was harsh given he barely touched Iniesta and the Spaniard went down after he'd removed his hand.
But the right team did win.
Also another example with Robben that if you don't go down you don't get shit. Clearly impeded by Puyol, nothing given.

Sarah Star Err... why have Spain taken off Villa and put Torres on?

is there such a thing?PEARCEY I just don't rate him as a ref. Do you think he's the best ref in the world?

Collina came close
Webb (and his team) got everything spot-on prior to ths game
He was picked (and rightly so) above all of the others based on this

The Swiss must have a little bit of smugness toopaultheroyal Congratulations Spain.
Always amazes me that the winning fans inside stadium don't look enthused yet crazy scenes in Madrid.
