Listening to all the interviews, and his 'muses' in pre-season, plus the way other players/management have said about him.

All players are loyal to a fault. The fault being the moment someone comes along with a better offer.

Can't say I've heard anything from Jobi that sounds more than the usual pre season platitutes and soundbites you get from every player. Not even footballers are stupid enough to bite the hand that feeds them.

McDermott: McAnuff transfer request is "completely untrue"
By Jonny Fordham
July 26, 2010

Brian McDermott has rubbished reports that star winger Jobi McAnuff has handed in a transfer request and is pushing for a move to Championship rivals QPR.

Speculation surrounding McAnuff’s future has been building of late, even though the player himself has publicly declared that he is happy at Madejski Stadium.

Responding to the transfer request rumour, McDermott said: “That’s not true. It’s completely untrue.”

Reports have also claimed that Reading turned down a bid from Neil Warnock’s side of £1.5million for the 28-year-old, but again McDermott rejected that earlier this month.

Since leaving Watford for £500,000 last summer, following former manager Brendan Rodgers to Berkshire, McAnuff has been an integral part of Reading’s success.

He is also an important part of the squad off the pitch and is an influential character in the dressing room.

And McAnuff’s room-mate at Reading, Matt Mills, has told the club to do all they can to keep hold of him.

“Jobi is massive for us,” declared the 24-year-old centre-back.

“A lot of our play comes through him and he’s a top player. Top players gain interest from other clubs and I’m sure he’s had it all through his career.

“He knows how to deal with it, but obviously if there is a situation then the club have to do all they can to keep him happy.”

But which bits? I'm interested in what gives you that idea because he's constantly been on the move throughout his career and hasn't clocked up 100 league games for any of his clubs.

He does say the right things, as most players do, but I've noticed anything that makes me think he's loyal over and above the average.

Maybe the journalist heard that a Reading winger was off to a London club...

Ambrose has signed a new deal at Palace, does this mean they are coming in for Jobi again?

Given that comes from Mills who has no role in keeping him or negotiating his contract that's a bit of a leap IMO.

Have we cut the £4m? Nigel Gibbs just on SkySports, interestingly said that they would be happy IF we had this squad going into the new season. I've heard players will still have to be sold. McAnuff/Kebe/Mills/Sig are prob our most valuable assets, of the 4 I'd be least disapointed to see Jobi go.

Apparently Warnock's having trouble getting deals signed off, we so many people involved behind the scenes at QPR. I still think they will spend big in the next few weeks and if they wanted a winger McAnuff would be towards the top of the list.

Daily Mail QPR set to swoop for wantaway Reading midfielder Jobi McAnuff
EXCLUSIVE By Sportsmail Reporter
Last updated at 1:22 AM on 28th July 2010

QPR will this week bid for Reading's unsettled winger Jobi McAnuff. And though Reading boss Brian McDermott is reluctant to sell, the Berkshire club will try and hold out for £1.45million.

Rangers boss Neil Warnock dearly wants a penetrative wide man after finally losing out in trying to get Darren Ambrose to follow him from Crystal Palace for £750,000.

In demand: but Neil Warnock has given up in his bid to sign Darren Ambrose

He sees former Palace, West Ham and Watford winger McAnuff as the next best alternative but will not like the price tag for the 28-year-old, after refusing to increase his bid for Ambrose.

Reading have hotly denied this week that McAnuff has demanded a transfer but won't be surprised by the interest from the Championship favourites for promotion.

I know every player has his price, but £1.45m?

Yeah, yeah more paper talk, more 2+2 = 5, more cobblers. I mean we're really going to holding out for a precise bid of 1.45m aren't we

Could be that a sell-on clause kicks in if we sell him for £1.5m upwards??

This isn't going away, is it. I wouldn't be surprised if this happened now.

We're about half way to the £4m cost cutting - this deal would take us to pretty much that figure with the fee and wages saved.

Really, really hope this doesn't happen.

I'd be surprised if the club agreed to sell Henry if they knew McAnuff was unsettled and wanted away.......

I don't think Henry was the replacement though. HR-K and Antonio look to be the more likely options IMO

I was thinking more in numbers. We have 5 wingers so we sell Henry bringing it down to 4. If we also sell McAnuff we will only have 3. For a team the relies heavily on wingers three is not enough.

Who is where in the pecking order is irrlevant to that point.

McAnuff wasn't great last night but thats by his own high standards. He certainly tried hard and didn't look "want-away".

When subed off he gave enthusiatic high 5s and pats on the back to his replacement and to Brian McDermott. Certainly looks settled and focused so I think we can conclude the rumours are a load of rubbish.

Also McDermott has integrity- hes not gonna deny things if they they're true. Ok we might hold out for a higher fee but he would not be quite so forthright to local media in his denials if he knew he may have to rescind them later.

Any sources for these rumours are clearly not coming from Reading. We're not so silly as to sell to a rival and thus significantly lessen our own promotion chances of a 60m jackpot!
