Not Kes LOL - not won the league since the backpass rule was removed

Victor Meldrew Something anti-Chelsea and anti-United

Anyway, if McGeady is worth £9.5M, then I hope we don't settle for anything less than £20M for Kebe.

Correction-I'm not anti-Chelsea.
FWIW my son is a Chelsea season-ticket holder.

Hoop Blah No idea what you mean by 'great range

Range = reach etc, whatever you want to call it. Can reach up in the corner, down at the post, etc.

LMAO..so pretty much the entire point of a goalkeeper.

Love this made up attribute you've plucked out of thin air.

Rumours abound that City are close to signing my European boy Yoann Gourcuff.

Don't know whether to shout 'nooooooooooooo' or just become a City fan.

You know for a fact that Kevin Poole was replaced as Leicester keeper because he was three inches too short?

There's more to 'range' than leg and arm length. Iker Casillas is only 5ft 11ins. Nicky Hammond is 'only' 6ft, but had huge spring in his legs (Hahnemann on the other hand, imho, often seemed relatively heavy on his feet).

That's what was said at the time.
Couldn't find anything specific to it on google just now, but there was this:
"Has anyone ever subbed their keeper specifically for a penalty and/or a penalty shoot-out?"

It's happened several times, Eduardo. In the 1996 First Division play-off final, Leicester manager Martin O'Neill decided to bring on 6ft 7ins Aussie keeper Zeljko Kalac for Kevin Poole, who's barely 5ft 11ins in his boots.

The substitution had the desired effect - but not in the way everyone expected. With the score delicately tied at 1-1 deep into extra-time, Crystal Palace failed to deal with a Garry Parker free-kick and as the ball was nodded into the penalty area, Steve Claridge "shinned a volley into the top corner". Well, so say objective Palace fans.

That was because he was good at saving penalties, not just because he was taller.

Plenty of tall keepers aren't that good at saving penalties, where as the likes of Tony Parks or Paul Cooper did pretty well for themselves when it came to saving penalties.

Wow. Coppell going up..

If they take Owen this will surely be final proof that SC is willing to change his ways. Loanees, aged GKs, now possibly washed-up Premiership strikers....never thought I'd see the day.
