Well done to all those involved.

Makes getting there and back so much easier.

Cheers Star and RFC

But remember STAR do nothing..........(and of course those who criticise them will say that it was the fans who got this result, not a combination of STAR and fans)......

no, those who criticise them will say if we had a vaguely credible supporters trust this wouldn't have happened in the first place

What did STAR do in all this then? I thought they were just agreeing with the club about half empty buses not being a viable proposition. :|

Nail on head RL

First of all they made out it was the right decision by the club and they were fully backing it. Then when some fans realised STAR was failing them they protested to the club themselves and got things sorted.

Now STAR are spouting on about some 'joint effort'

puh-lease

I know I really shouldn't rise to the bait, but...

I haven't seen anything from STAR claiming they helped achieve a change in the buses, just by RFC on their website so maybe there has been work done behind the scenes rather than on HNA? Funnily enough that is more likely to acheive a result than keyboard sniping here.

I think the point being made was more that STARs intial reaction to the cutting of the services was to support the clubs move and imply there wasn't a lot they could do about it, but that a couple of routes were being looked at.

Now that it seems the club have found a way round it, presumably because of fan pressure and the efforts put in by some to show that it could be viable and an alternative outside of the clubs control being lined up. That shows that the club isn't always right, and will sometimes react to a bit of hardline pressure.

From STARs comments on this issue though it certainly didn't appear that they were looking to apply any pressure at all after the initial news came out.

Is there perhaps a lesson to be learnt here, for both STAR and RFC.

To be fair to STAR, they themselves haven't suggested that they've lifted a finger on the part of the fans or done anything other than their standard endorsing of the club's position.

It was 'No Hoops' who made the error in saying "well done STAR" upthread.

a pound extra - i bet it wont be enough.
it could cost as much as the carparking, and still be cheaper /quicker/easier - i really dont know why everyone doesnt use them.

but well done RFC for at least trying - im pretty sure all you really need to do is take away bus pass priveledges for the elderly for these, and youd be in profit.

i hope this change of heart has been advertised alot- cos theyve been going on for weeks about them being cancelled, then at last minute reinstated, so alot of people will not know/have made arrangements, and the buses will be empty, and cancelledf again in two weeks.

Sebastian
Schards#2 other than their standard endorsing of the club's position.

Which seems to the the problem for the majority of the detractors. I'm sure they work hard, etc, but occasionally it would be useful if they were actually seen to be doing something, other than constantly stating that they're working 'behind the scenes'.

'greed, or even dare I say it come out with the odd comment like "We're not happy about this so we're in discussions with the club" rather than "We're not happy about this but the club have explained it has to happen this way because X"

IMHO STAR lost their sense of purpose years ago when they felt it necessary to support the club and the community by donating cash, time and effort.

STAR should be there to look after the interests of the supporters only.

That was my worry!

I only found out about an hour ago, by pure chance. I was considering driving into Reading and then getting on one of the local footie busses, so I Googled 'Reading Football Buses' and came across a story saying they had been reinstated. If I hadn't, I would have been blissfully unaware and would have made my way to today's game by other means. I am sure that many others, who would get the bus, won't be aware.

It would be nice if they could announce at the game, that these buses will be running for the Forest game, so that people are aware and they can then judge the response more on who uses the bus to that game, rather than today's.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, because the bus runs from about 300 yards from my house in Bracknell :)
