Do we know this for a fact??? Williams didn't seem to bad to me (on a day when almost nobody played anywhere near well)

Not sure if Armstrong has played for Reading at centre back but he certainly did in a few games for Sheffield utd...

If he returns in the form he was in things will be looking up

Really? Where's that nugget of information come from?

I would be amazed if Armstrong was picked for Saturday.

Brian's comments on the OS are a bit ambiguous

He says: 'Jem is OK, Millsy, Shane and Jobi are in the treatment room but are in with a shout for Saturday. Noel Hunt is in their too and Chris Armstrong as well.'

Armstrong is in the treatment but surely going nowhere at the moment....

That's not ambiguous - that says that NH and CA are both in the treatment room. So not in contention. He'd hardly be starting a first team game before featuring in a reserve game after more than a year out!

I agree.

But you could put an alternative spin on Brian's comments - Armstrong is there as well - possibly in contention.

This is the same Chris Armstrong who hasn't been anywhere near a football pitch for over a year??

Only if you're looking to deliberately misunderstand something that's quite clear.

Exactly, he's not going to throw him in straight away surely? I'd expect a month or so in the reserves at least, unless we were absolutely desperate.

Well seeing as we only have 1 fit centre back who is totally useless and a makeshift cb who struggled to get through 120 mins last night (suprised he is) I can comfortably say yes we are ABSOLUTELY DESPERATE

I'd rather have Gunnarsson or Griffin with Gunnarsson/Tabb at right back or a half fit Mills than a guy who's played no football what-so-ever in over a year in a position he's not used to.

Quite a few pics of Armstrong in his training gear on the official website. I suspect he was just doing his bit for the community, but maybe he is edging nearer a return?
