I was asking in what way was a manager that hasn't really been involved in transfers, the background administration and boardroom level running of a football club for many years, if ever, more qualified than a man that's been doing just that for the best part of the last ten years or so?

Hammond's playing career wasn't the greatest, but he has apparently got good contacts in the game too, probably a lot more up to date than Coppells if you're saying that their playing careers define their contacts.

I am sure as a manager Coppell has some, if not significant involvement, in transfers, the background administration and boardroom level running of a football club. Hammond now has built up that experience clearly but he did not have that before?

He worked his way up perfectly, gaining experience and learning all the way.

Player, to coach, to Director of the Academy to DoF. He wasn't just thrown into as a pure novice straight off the training pitch.

Not sure what bearing his experience, or lack of, 10 years ago has on his relative qualifications for the job compared to Coppell right now though...

McGhee did a much harder job than him, Pardew did all the work and it took Coppell 3 years to finish it before he pissed it away through being incompetent and having no drive.
