cmonurz
Smoking Kills Dancing Doe Pretty much a full strength side from City. Most worrying thing about it.

Defeat away at Donny on Saturday and things could be very interesting.

In what way? They aren't going to dump him after 3 games.

Unnerving prescience from SKDD and an accidently accurate statement from cmonurz...

Barry the bird boggler Thought it might not last at the time, he's not comfortable being away from his family home for any length of time. Here's to him getting an honourary role with Reading of some description.

All in all not a particularly good start for Bristol City to this season (and will David James look to move again - perhaps Exeter need keeper cover)?

On the bright side he gave us some valuable wonga for Cisse

The icing on the cake

To be fair Silver Fox I don't think the term "hapless" is the worst insult in the footballing world.....unlike say, calling someone an embarressment?!

I have not switched my view either. Hapless - meaning unfortunate at times, unlucky, hasn't had the rub of the green. This, I feel, at times, refers to Hammond. Sorry for the obvious outrage this has caused!

Great news!

He'll now be untouchable for other clubs for a while so we can snatch him up at the end of the Brian McDermott era! (Whichever way it goes!)

I hated the thought of him wasted at Bristol City. It sounds so similar to us but its not. We know we're a small club. Our plans are based on a successful

They always seem to consider themselves an sleeping giant purely due to their geographic location. Arrogant, demanding of success and with a chairman who likes confrontation - neveer going to be the home for our gentle Steve!

Hoop Blah I think you mis-read my question, so I'll rephrase it for you.

I was asking in what way was a manager that hasn't really been involved in transfers, the background administration and boardroom level running of a football club for many years, if ever, more qualified than a man that's been doing just that for the best part of the last ten years or so?

Hammond's playing career wasn't the greatest, but he has apparently got good contacts in the game too, probably a lot more up to date than Coppells if you're saying that their playing careers define their contacts.

I am sure as a manager Coppell has some, if not significant involvement, in transfers, the background administration and boardroom level running of a football club. Hammond now has built up that experience clearly but he did not have that before?

PorkyRfc As my mate pointed out - the last thing he did in football management was to give us £500k for Cisse. Well done agent Coppell!!

Couldn't we be doing with him at CB at the moment?

GOD!! This is what happens when you use a term from an old satirical cartoon in the old Heaven Eleven cartoon!! "Hapless Hammond" and it causes outrage. The Whiff was always better.

Someone move this to General Football as I'm delighted he's nowhere near our club anyway. Seriously, what a spineless tosser.

He worked his way up perfectly, gaining experience and learning all the way.

Player, to coach, to Director of the Academy to DoF. He wasn't just thrown into as a pure novice straight off the training pitch.

Not sure what bearing his experience, or lack of, 10 years ago has on his relative qualifications for the job compared to Coppell right now though...

I'm just gutted he didn't do this when we were in our 2nd season in the Premiership.

Smoking Kills Dancing Doe Bottle job oxf*rd. No Hammond/Noades to hold his hand and make him look good in the transfer market.

Shafted Bristol City.

Spot on.

McGhee did a much harder job than him, Pardew did all the work and it took Coppell 3 years to finish it before he pissed it away through being incompetent and having no drive.
