handbags_harris Well no not really, there have been cases previous to this where similar walls have collapsed in similar circumstances and people have ended up with broken limbs. I remember an FA Cup tie at a non-league ground in the early-mid 90's where this happened. With less luck the same could have happened on Wednesday. It's not about the fact a wall collapsed and a few people got cuts and bruises, it's about preventing similar things happening with worse outcomes (and the fact that a safety certificate clearly shouldn't have been issued due to the insufficient structure). Sorry Affers, but you're blowing out of your arse with this one.

...especially considering that one of those who ended up the closest to the incident is one of his M8s...

Did they get the Pikey's in to make this wall, Where is the cement in between the blocks?
They must have used superglue.
If you look at the blocks to the left, there is none on the wall or underside of the blocks that have broken free.

Sheer caranage! Think I saw this photo on the front page of one of the red tops this morning.

The Sun says it was down to drunken rampaging Reading Fans, so it must be true.

yeah, i lay awake all night Wednesday worrying about trollers scuffed knee

lol @ handbags thinking i could give a flying fuck about his opinion on anything

only possible outcome from all this - some poor schmuck losing his job, Torquay being hit in the pocket, STAR awarding themselves new badges for a job well done

All because of some Berkshire cry babies with too much time on their hands.

They will now have to pay to have the wall replaced I guess, will the original builder be on rogue traders at some point???

If the poor schmuck had done his job in the first place and ensured the wall was sufficient and to the required standard, maybe his job wouldn't be in jeapardy. Who's to say he'll lose it anyway? Torquay being hit in the pocket? If they had done their job and ensured the wall was to the required standard they wouldn't be hit there would they?

And I know you couldn't care less about anything anybody says when it's critical and personal to you so your idea that I think you care about my opinion is misinformed. Run along now please, go and form another opinion. Dismissed.

Looks like it was meant to collapse!

The wall is designed to give way rather than be the cause of any crush injuries.

So what would you prefer, horrible crush injuries or bruising and cuts and scrapes. You just can't win either way it seems. Perhaps clubs should be forced to put up tough, inflatable bouncy walls?

Of course if Reading fans had behaved themselves and not rushed forward like a bunch of schoolgirls at a Take That gig no-one would have been hurt

a bit sad to try and lay blame for this. They wouldn't normally expect such a big surge to the front and i don't think they could of forseen the wall being weakened at any point. I have a cut on my leg, in the shape of a C about 4 inchs up and 3 across.. Not to big. Loads of pictures were taken at the game.. (not gonna read the whole thread) So im sure you could find one of the wall.

T.R.O.L.I. Also, I believe Sharpy's Mum may have visited Torquay a few years ago so it might be worth contacting her for more details on her lucky escape...

I wasn't at the game but after reading a facebook update about the wall on the day of the incident I spiralled into depression and have had a phobia of walls. Can STAR please pursue a compensation claim on my behalf?

Yes - and I'm scared to go to watch football now (luckily I'm a Reading fan so I can still get out on a Saturday afternoon though)
