Reading's record.......

by Alan Partridge » 24 Aug 2010 10:25

Will be gone if Torquay keep a clean sheet Saturday at Port Vale then get to 53 minutes without conceeding against Southend. 8)

I thought it went last season? Or at least that's what all football records pages seem to suggest.

Does it not still stand as a Football League record though? Do they count the Premiership?

Our record has gone.

The record is 'in English football'.

It's a shame it went, and to a big club like United too. I always liked the little quirk of English football records that the most wins at the start of a season and longest time without conceding a goal, pretty much the awesomest records there are, both belonged to little old Reading. Not to mention as of 2006 the most points in an English season. That's quite the trio of records.

The local Torquay rag is still claiming Reading's as the Football league record. That's good enough for me.

It's all insignificant anyway co Torquay will probably get beat at Port Vale.

Technically it wouldn't count anyway as Reading's games were also "successive games" and as we know Torquay couldn't keep a clean sheet a couple of weeks ago.

ALOLan PaROFLtROFLidge. Will you settle for the fact that it is a record for a Devon club? 8)

You do know that football existed before 1992, don't you?

We already hold one of those by being the last Devon club to enter the league and the first to get to Wembley. Now 5 times, more than the other lots combined. 8)

We'll lose 3-0 at Port Vale and all will be back to normal anyway.

Er I think Oxf*rd scored a couple against us in League Cup during our run of 'successive' games.

If you want to be tenuous our records stands as an all competitions one I think. because we didn't play in any other competitive matches during the run. I think Utd conceeded goals in Europe during their run.

I'd be surprised Talbot as I thought it was the last ten games of the season and then part of the first one of the next.
