BBC say Liverpool rumoured to have rejected a bid in the region of 20 million Euro + Hleb. Footballing-wise that would be a great deal - speaks volumes for the situation the club is in that they are apparently holding out for 30 million cash.

cmonurz He's a wide midfielder which, if Jovanovic and Kuyt are Liverpool's best options when Cole isn't playing, is something they need.

Maybe it's just me but I can't see why Mascherano is worth any more than £5m.
An admittedly strong defensive midfielder with a bad disciplinary record who gives you nothing offensively. Not exactly 10 a penny but nothing special in premiership terms.

Hoop Blah I think he's a cracking player, and one of the best in the world at what he does (break up play and protect the back four whilst the more technical players do the clever stuff).
Compare his price to players like Hargreaves, the two Diarra's at Madrid, Ramires who just signed for Chelsea, and his price tag isn't too far out of that bracket. That's just the price you now have to pay for a player of that quality with plenty of time left on his contract.

tbh though you could probably get Essien for £30m and he is by far a better player than Mascherano is

pea Apparently Stoke want Marc Wilson and are offering Kitson in a swap deal plus cash. Our strikers look weaker and weaker compared to:
Cardiff- Chopra, Bellamy, Boothroyd, McCormack, Keogh
Bristol City- Maynard, Pitman, Stead, Haynes, Vokes, Clarkson
Portsmouth- Smith, Nugent, Kitson, Kanu, Utaka
Forest- Earnshaw, Blackstock, Adebola, Tyson, McGoldrick
Burnley- Iwelumo, Patterson, Thompson, Bikey
Boro- Boyd, McDonald, Lita, Emnes
Even Ipswich have got Wickham and Scotland.
