I'd prefer we played a crocked, half-retired Armstrong to be honest, at least he'll be able to read the game and control the ball properly.

Said it after the forest game that he was going to struggle this season and tonight he just showed that he is no better than league 2.

Wtf could he not have chosen sheff utd instead of us??

He is going to be a big problem for us at left back

Maybe we should be grateful not giving Maccy D a big transfer pot, might of saved us last season but is he too close to the players

no he's oxf*rd shit, skinned almost every time......only taylor was skinned more, pearce was awful 1st, ok 2nd

mills was our defence....if it wasnt for him wed have been thrashed

Thought Taylor did very well given he's an attacking midfielder by trade and is still very young - showed Williams up.

Both goals came from the right side AND the disallowed one. LOL at claiming taylor did well - he was awful at right back. Reason being...he's a centre mid.

The thing is, is Cummings really that bad?! I've never seen him get skinned like Williams has been and to have a debuting attacking midfielder play at right-back ahead of Cummings is surely pretty daft.

Cummings > Williams > Taylor for a full back. And I'm not complimenting any of them...

Were Jerome Thomas, Graham Dorrans, etc playing for a team who were 20th in League Two at the time?

And who have we got as cover at left back. While a crocked Armstrong would be most people's favourite for the role, possibility is he'll never play again and even if he does would he be as good.

Still an improvement I hear you shout...!

PS - What does anyone expect from a club with a first team that is just about competitive at Division 2 level but has nothing good enough to provide what could be sufficient back up at this level and absolutely no sign of any remote investment in the playing side at all.

Marcus Williams does not look to be a good signing at this momenet in time.

That said, I will not judge him until I have seen him settle in and played at least 10 games.

After all Marus Williams is not at fault for the way we play and are exposed at the back.

when we have players like Williams, who are just sh*t, and make the 1st squad easy due to injuries. It really does ruin my excitement to go to games (despite that going this time last season, until McD came in at the end of the season), now because I've paid good money for a season ticket, I feel it's a chore going to the games instead of having that football day feel when you wake up.

He's not in the first team squad due to injuries (assuming Armstrong is finished), he's our first choice.

It is hardly surprising that, when year after year you reduce your squad, sell experienced players and replace them with frees and acadamy players, performances and results get worse and worse. It's entirely logical to assume they will.

Madejski's sole aim with this club is for it to be financially self sufficient, as a result, all other things being equal, we will struggle as it's not a level playing field against teams who's owner do care about what happens on the pitch.

We should have asked Chelsea for first dibs on Bertrand if they were going to put him out on loan again - but I rather suspect the club didn't want to pay the money, so thought getting Williams in was a better bet. How wrong they were - but we could all have told them that.

Going back a couple of seasons now, but Dan Harding is a better player than Williams in my eyes too, and the club decided not to sign him when his contract ended with Ipswich and he'd made positive noises about wanting to stay at the club. I'm not sure we knew to what extent Armstrong's injury was at the time though, which I guess is why we overlooked him as an option.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing as they say, but we are incredibly weak in both full-back positions at the moment. Griffin's a decent player but he seems to be picking up a lot of niggles recently.

I recon that Madejski doesn't want the hassle of being a premier league chairman again. He doesn't want to take any risks with his money to get us into the Prem, where he will then make back all his money. And to me a chairman shouldn't be like that, obviously he has the right to make sure all the fee's a paid, but if you are chairman of a football club your job is to do your up most to make your team better by supplying the support to your manager.
