Back from the Game, Northampton Town 24th August

Jake Taylor is an attacking midfielder / striker....not a right back!! its not his fault he was asked to play there but what options do we have. To have a go at an 18 year old whos trying to learn his trade is patehtic especially when he was so far out of position............

so why did we bring him on and not Bryn?

Ok, Where do i start, Well i need to ask people to clear a couple of things up for me,
I would like to let you all know that I travelled down from northampton with a few Cobblers fans and i could see them from my seat, As we won the free-kick that let to Mills opener i showed my friend the PINTS DOWN signal (Just in case some don't kow this It means put ya pints down boys this is going in) And as we all know i was correct, Now this should stand as the best pints down shout in my memory only because i called it from one stand to another.
Now this might be a lack of concentration from me but i would say it was anticipation. The first Cobblers goal, Hamer flicked the ball up and so i thought collected it on the sencond attempt, I looked up field to see if he had a good quick distribution attact to play, The next thing i know the Cobblers massive were on their feet cheering.... Could anyone that went to the game clear up what happened for me?

Now The last goal in the 125th minute of play, Again i saw the PEN shout and to me it was a pretty clear cut penalty, I saw the ball spinning towards the far corner of the 6yrd box and so i thought was going out as not one player was within 10ft of the ball, looked back at the players and ref to see the claims and inocence of the players, Ref points towards the corner in my opinion and Cobblers start an attack that led to free-kick and eventually the crushing equalising goal. Please WTF?

Now for me the Cobblers fully deserved to win overall and we should have been back on the M4 after 90 mins but common Lads how the hell have we been driven to play such Shite football.. Jem Shite, Williams Shite, Hamer Shite, Church Shite but did chase everything.

And to top off this dreadful night, I had to suffer a disgusting PIE, The food has even gone down hill..... This is not the club i want to be spending my hard earned cash on, On a normal home game it will cost me near £100 just for one game... this is not how i want me money to be shat down a drain....

Please what can be done to change this?????????

well why do you spend £100 for a single home game??? £23 for a ticket, Northampton is 180 miles round trip, most cars do 40mpg now, so about £30 in fuel. still £53 but no where near £100

all we need is an experienced central midfielder, seriously. the closest this team has to a brain is Howard but he' still pretty young himself. that team yesterday just looked seriously timid, small and young - and it wasn't much gnarlier on Saturday.

I mean this actually - at the mo we have no senior player guiding the team through a tricky period. 27 isn't senior and BH's achievements in football total one good season with Barnsley. behind him are Pearce and Mills and if anyone thinks Mills is a responsible senior, experienced player who knows how to guide RFC out of this then I'm a swindon fan. We could've beaten Forest and Northampton tonight with someone with a bit of nous just to guide this young team through a tricky period.

That was truely awfull. I'm not that worried about the defeat, but we were totally outplayed by a league 2 side, defensively we look a shambles and the lack of professionalism in the dying minutes you wouldn't see on a Sunday morning.

Ok McDermott doesn't have the money, but surely he could of seen that Thorton was totally running the game and changed tactics to counter this.

The team lack discipline, giving the job to the chief scout was always the wrong option and after getting lucky with momentum gained from a cup run last year, this season he's being found out big time.

Relegation is on the cards.

I debated with myself on the way home whether to make this post in the heat of the moment or whether to wait until tomorrow. oxf*rd it here goes.

First comment: all those tw@s calling for 4-4-2 have just been shown up for what they are – clueless.

442 did a pretty decent job of steering us away from relegation last season when we were playing sigurdsson on the left hand side with tabb and howard in the middle and church and long up front...

The only reason for us to continue with 451 would be to help our weak defence keep clean sheets - yet we look shaky at the back playing 451 and we score rarely so are we likely to get anywhere with that - the only way it might work for me is to replace karacan with tabb...

I still say for the next league game we should drop a winger and shift sigurdsson out to the side (and drop karacan* for tabb).

I agree to a certain extent, but we do have Griffin who should be able to exert a bit of influence. Gunnarsson is still about the place too, but he still can't last the pace. Then there's Ingimarsson, if he can get himself fit again.

Mills doesn't really strike me as a dependable leader, and so we're left with a few old cripples who possibly won't command a first team place.

As Scarface says, it's not last nights defeat that is the worry, it's the way we lost and the way we've looked so frail and lacking in ideas and quality in every game so far.

the closest is Griffin yes but I'd argue the two Icelanders have always been more lead-by-example types rather the type to organise the team aroudn them. I'd have this player in CM because our problems aren't just defensive, it's a question of how the ball is arriving with the strikers in the top half of the pitch.
