The only hope would be the return of Beard Day for a reason to attend.

Doncaster home please guys.

Great post. When I see the type of football Reading are playing at the moment, it really does make me want to go out and get my coaching badges, so I can go to Madejski's 5 million pound home (that he uses once a week) and tell the silly c*nt to make me manager.

oh ho, that's a match I'm over for.

Son's first game, and he thinks Reading are brill.

Disillusionment beckons at 11.

Oh and of course plus one for Floyd's post. To be fair, he normally posts that well.

Floyd and SDR are all you need on the Team Board.

Actually, it's not - there's barely anything there relating to last night's game - most of it is a culmination of what has happened since we came back out of the Premiership. Instead of trying to re-attain the giddy heights, the club is running to stand still or is even heading backwards. The whole experience of watching football in general - not just at Reading - is fast becoming the most unattractive proposition out there.

So, what can we all do about it then?

Refuse to go until Mr Mad sees a bit of sense and realises he might have to loan some money to buy some players?

Fact is, we either have to put up or shut up and unless we stop going to matches, we can't do anything at all.

You can make sure the club know how you feel. Worked with Pants day to an extent, also all the demands to know where the money went got an answer. Fans helped change Coppells mind about leaving, didnt work out, but hey.

All you can do is let them know, write letters, anything you think of, write direct to Mr Madejski.

Organise something, apply for the managers job next time it comes up.

This isn't an over-reaction thread at all.

On the contrary, what Floyd and Ian Herring have crafted are outstanding soliloquies to the state of modern football.

Both these posts could relate to any club outside the top dozen of the Primmadonnaship. I bet you could knock on the door of hundreds of thousands of footy supporters throughout the land and find empathy with these offerings from Messrs Streete and Herring.

It's a sad indictment on the state of the game; the influence of The Digger; money-bags mystery 'benefactors' looking to build a global brand; and the aspirations of small time, small town chairmen.

I know I'll always be RFC - I may even turn up at the Rec next season - but these contributions encapsulate a wave of disillusionment with football generally and not RFC specifically.

ps: Floyd and Ian - hope you don't mind, but I've copied both your posts and added them as notes to my Slagbook page. Duly accredited, of course.

I would not advise asking Howe wtf he knows about football though, does not go down too well with Mr Madejski

floyd, you should let the Evening Scrote have this. It is worthy of a (slightly?) larger audience!

I must have missed the bit where they were the greatest thing since sliced bread, I thought that was Steve Coppell?

Truth often does hurt unfortunately. I don't believe Howe, Mr Mad or Stabler or whoever is FD know much about football at all really and they could do with someone who does to give them a perspective from a proper supporter's point of view.

Excellent posts by Floyd and Ian.
These are comments from the heart rather than the souless stuff we get so often on here from the club's Ministry of Defence talking about how well run we are,how great a business man our chairperson is,how we fans don't understand the economics of football and how grateful we should be that the club hasn't done a Leeds or a Pompey.

Fans like Ian and Floyd are emotional fans which I much prefer to those that try to come across as somehow needing always to defend what the club does and are always so rational, most of them presumably in the real world are accountants.

This particular subject is obviously not one for the considered and oh so sensible so I am happy to be part of it.
Good posting fellas.

It hurt the man with the big watch more than Howe, which one was shown the door???

Football fans Like FS and Ian Herring are needed as much and more as the new money bags fans. The game is going rotten, and moving away from the grass roots, hopefully one thing that JM is doing is limiting wages for incoming players.

Seems to me, as a relative newcomer, that you can have the swearing, standing, cheap, accessible club you crave, or success... but you can't have both.

...or neither as he case may be!

(success is relative, and we're not being successful relative to our current/recent standing and resources)
