The sooner people realise that Saturday football is just a brief break from an all day p*ss up, the better. Therefore, avoid midweek games at all cost*.

* Unless on a corporate freebie.

the worst thing about it is getting 5 pints of Old Rosie down you at lunchtime and then having to sit and watch Shane Long with a crashing hangover

Although I rarely add comments to this board I am an enthusiastic viewer and felt compelled to add a few comments to agree with both FS and AH. ...

I have decided this season to be much more selective with the number of games I attend. This is not altogether a financial decision but it does mount up over a season especially when at grounds such as Leicester they charge away fans £26...............

Chairmen such as Dave Whelan have been quoted in the press as ' being worried about falling attendances'.... with prices like above and in the middle of a recession why are they surprised, do they not come in to contact with people who have to live in the real world ? and who still have mortgages to pay and families to bring up.
The decision to cancel my Sky subscription was in part because I did not feel inclined to watch all the Premiership Prma Donnas prancing around earning thousands per week, but the nail in the coffin was when Sky decided to invest several million pounds per year in running a Cycling team!!!!!!!!! Now I have nothing against Cycling as such but with all the other investments they are making in HD technology etc. god knows how many cameras at each ground, 2/3 so called experts making inane comments, does any one stop to ask Who finishes up paying or all this ?????

The answer is YOU and ME and all the other mugs who can't do without their dose of repetitive garbage dished out daily.

RANT OVER for now...................

facaldaqui Yeah, Reading are crap. I could have supported Liverpool or Real Madrid, but I didn't. Football is life. LIfe is crap. Boilers are crap. The reason you can't stop supporting them is that you're under the influence of a biological imperative. If it wasn't supporting Reading, it would be something else, like collecting records. And records are crap.

^This. And that is the point. The "plucky little teams" can no longer compete. It's not a level playing field and the youff are becoming disinfranchised. There's no goalposts for jumpers in the streets - or even the bloody parks - anymore, and young'uns are being cajoled by the bright lights of the Primmadonnash*t.

Terminal Boardom Bit touchy today eh Frimmers? I suggest you switch on the irony button.

Fact is, until the customers vote with their feet and direct debits, nothing will change.

I'm torn between thinking...........but it's just a game or the bloody money has ruined football.

It was so disappointing in our Premiership season that you are setting your sights on a 4th from bottom finish as a major achievement, and what a dull uninteresting league the Premiership is if you aren't a fan of one of the top 6 teams, I think to that degree the Championship does at least provide a more competitive league. If I find myself complaining about players who fall forwards when their shirt is pulled one more time I think I'm going to cry. I can feel my love of watching the game diminishing, I'm in the fortunate position of not having to pay for my season ticket, so it's easy for me to keep coming along even when the team are under performing. Then again isn't all about the high's and low's of supporting this club which we are so down about right now, they gave us that 106 point season, and personally I wouldn't swap that for pretty much anything..........

£250 a season ticket at Wigan and you can't move for empty seats. Yes we are crap but no one is forced to go, if you don't like it buy your Chelsea shirt and stand in the pub every Sunday afternoon with other twats who don't even know where Stamford Bridge is! It's after inept performances like Tuesday that make the few sweet moments like last season's win at Anfield that bit sweeter. Those Northampton fans will cherish that night for years as we did at Anfield. So let them enjoy there moment and move on it's only a game!

Hugo Boss The sooner people realise that Saturday football is just a brief break from an all day p*ss up, the better. Therefore, avoid midweek games at all cost*.

* Unless on a corporate freebie.

I've been a whole lot happier with my weekends since i stopped giving a shit what the Reading score was. You do tend to spend most second halves looking forward to the first beer after the game though*

*before you realise you'll have it in the Oakford and it'll be worse than Shane Long.

just don't bother going to the game at all - more fun staying in the pub, doing a little betting.

Get on the Captain Morgan's m8. Double bonus is that it has a gr8 side effect in amnesia, meaning that if you did watch any of the football, you'll have forgotten it by the evening anyway.

Well, never underestimate the phenomenal power of the internet - I got a Facebook message this morning offering me a quote on a new boiler. Strangely though, the old boiler seems to have kicked back in to life the last couple of days. Perhaps Uri Gellar reads HNA.

Gratifying to see that so mnay of you are on my wavelength. I'd suggest a group hug, but I am afraid of getting my eye poked out by the bell on someone's jester hat.

I think I speak for everyone when I say floyd_streete should replace Anthony Fenn as a columnist in the Evening Post.

"The view from the Southbank" - oh f*ck off, has anyone ever actually seen him at Reading game?

I've seen him once.

How do these people get these jobs anyway? I'd love to do it - but I've never seen it advertised to the wider public. Though I admit Floyd would be far better at it than me.
