readingbedding Interesting.

We'll get a nice amount, if so.
If he doesn't go, fair enough.

Pretty non-plussed.

As I said, we'll get a nice amount for him.

If he goes, good luck to him, if he doesn't, good luck to him.

It will sum up the ambition of this club if he goes. Relegation dog fight here we come.

Message to JM, the board and Nick Hammond: oxf*rd OFF!

I think we all know that we aren't going to get a player of Sig's ability and who can slot straight into the team. If we're lucky McD will get a couple of million to find a replacement and fill the holes in defence.

What irks me most is that this move, if it happens, appears to be contra to what Sigs actually wants. If he was another Shorey and wanted away at any cost, I could understand it. But if, as someone suggested, he's already turned down moves in the Summer, then this smacks of the club (or more particularly JM) just grabbing the money. I think Sigs' loyalty would have allowed him one more season here and if we didn't get promoted I wouldn't have been in the least bit surprised if he then decided he should move on - in fact, it should have been encouraged. All good things come to an end - including, I would guess, RFC in this division if we don't re-invest wisely very quickly.

We did our cloth cutting last summer so we wouldn't have to sell our best young players this summer....

If we really did put a £3m release clause in his new deal then we have clearly been desperate to get rid of him all summer. Feel for the lad, genuinely think he wanted to get to the Premiership with a Reading. Just the club had very different ideas.

This is why you need a Chairman who hasn't lost all his money in a succession of shit investments. Wonder ho much that luxury hotel on the galapagos lost last year?

Anyone that thinks that McD will get any decent amount of money from the sale of ANY player is seriously disillusioned. This club is a selling club despite what the powers that be say. If we had any ambition we would have tried to get a decent Defender.
Hell at least we've got a 2 week rest to get all our corcked players fit again and paper over the cracks/weaknesses in the team.

A very sad day for RFC - Kebe & Mcnuff will be next to go and then Division One here we come!

Feel very sorry for Sig if this is true. Commits his future to the club when he could quite easily have had his head turned and then the club accept a bid from some third rate German side, which I'm sure Sig would not be too keen on.

IcelandicStokie
strap April 1st in iceland BTW.

Mods please delete this nonsense thread.

Thanks.

This is not a lie, am sorry, but Gylfi is having a medical in Germany tomorrow sadly. Four year contract is on the table, the german manager has even attended Reading training to watch Gylfi in action. Reading has agreed to sell Gylfi to Hoffenheim.

You are a wind up merchant mate. No Germans have been at the club training ground this pre-season. That is a fact. Of course, Hoffenheim's manager could be English I suppose - wait, er no. Looks ike they are all non-English.

I am surprised that the rumours are about a German side ? I would have hung my hat on him going to the Premiership. Will be interesting to see what happens if he does depart, Madejski isnt exactly known for his love of the costs to do with football, but it does have its advantages to him as he can bolster his other failing assets by the selling of the players. Will be interesting to hears McD's take on this especially if the money isnt re-invested, which in the present Madejski climate, is most unlikely, surly must make his position untennable.

If he goes will the club be offering refunds to fans who got shirts with Sig's name on the back this season ?

Well, I'm inclined to believe Icelandstokie - there's no reason for him to make this up and he normally puts any rumours (which actually often are then true) in UR&G.

Still, I'm sure Strap's Boy will be the first at the club to be told any developments!

Anyone who puts a big name Reading player on their shirt these days is asking for trouble if you ask me.

Yes but we got rid of a lot of players either for a fee, or at any rate made savings on their wages and we signed ONE player. On a FREE. So we can't still have 4 million outstanding in any case.

I doubt I'll bother going again this year if this turns out to be true. I'm not spending another penny up there this year after this short sighted sh*t from RFC. Does anyone at RFC think they wouldn't be able to get that amount or much much more after Siggy had a full season run in the first team? F*cking idiots!!!

With all the other good players who left for big fees at least we all knew they wanted off after Premiership clubs came in for them.

And £4.25M??? Didn't we get nearly that much for Hunt?
