Schards#2 ...it is hard to see progress for the forseeable future whilst we compete against pretty much every other club that is prepared to invest. Can't believe no one foresaw this scenario a couple of years ago.

Schards#2 The only surprise is that anyone is surprised by this. What have you been doing for the past 4 years while the team has been systematically weakened by the sales of player who can command a decent fee to be replaced by cheaper inferior alternatives.Let me let you into another secret, less than 25% of the fee will be reinvested and, after the dust has settled, the club will still owe Madejski #20 million and still have a black hole beyond this. This is was has happened after every other piece of silver has been flogged off.Madejski has no interest in the club other than for it not to cost him money, as such it is hard to see progress for the forseeable future whilst we compete against pretty much every other club that is prepared to invest. Can't believe no one foresaw this scenario a couple of years ago.

Pretty much my view esp the emboldened bit.

Turns8
howser I am surprised that the rumours are about a German side ? I would have hung my hat on him going to the Premiership. Will be interesting to see what happens if he does depart, Madejski isnt exactly known for his love of the costs to do with football, but it does have its advantages to him as he can bolster his other failing assets by the selling of the players. Will be interesting to hears McD's take on this especially if the money isnt re-invested, which in the present Madejski climate, is most unlikely, surly must make his position untennable.

 It's not about re-investing the money in the playing squad...it's about balancing the books...£4m deficit remember....jeezy chrizzy how many times do some people need to be told

Sucker. Believe everything you're "told" do you? (especially if it's said enough times)

Keep up old man. We cut the cloth last summer so we wouldn't have to this summer. We didn't sign players like Kish so we wouldn't have to sell our best young prospect. Not liked Sig signed a new deal witha low release clause and the sole intetion that we'd sell him.

This is a joke. Its not like Gylfi is pushing for a move, and if the club put a 3 million release clause in his contract they are a disgrace. And also if he leaves they better not even think about putting it as `undisclosed`

Perhaps McD thinks Gylfi just doesn't fit into the system here, and we'd be better placed for a promotion push if we sold him and brought another striker to the club so we can play 4-4-2.

Just a thought.....

If however we do sell but don't re-invest that money then I fear for Mr Mad.

Ups and Downs
strap
Royal Lady Well, I'm inclined to believe Icelandstokie - there's no reason for him to make this up and he normally puts any rumours (which actually often are then true) in UR&G.

Still, I'm sure Strap's Boy will be the first at the club to be told any developments!

And there's me trying to be helpful to the board!

With respect, I pay a lot more attention to someone who keeps his ears and eys open within the club than a Daily Mirror reporter regurgitating second hand stories from an Icelandic newspaper. The training ground is a surprisingly small tight-nit community, and there aren't too many confidential items of news that stay secret for very long. (Won't tax your attention span with dozens of examples he has previously provided that have all been correct, but not put here to preserve his confidentiality - but this one is big). But hey, if you prefer your "truth" from the Daily Mirror, that is your right.

So are you saying he's not going anywhere?

No, I'm saying there is not a single shred of evidence to back this story up from within the training ground. Not a rumour, not player gossip, nothing.

Although it's now on Sky Sports, and the fee is now £5million!! So the press rumour mill has the fee going up from £3M release clause, £4. Daily Mirror and now £5M on Sky!

AND STILL NO GOSSIP AT THE TRAINING GROUND!

All we seem to do is balance the bloody books!

I thought I'd be happy if we managed to hang onto what we had & got rid of those that didn't really feature i.e. Rasiak, Cisse, Marek & in the main I think we made the right moves.

I didn't then expect our youngsters to start going too! My ST went down by £50. I'd have happily paid £425 knowing the squad wouldn't be completely ravaged. Yes I know it's not much but if if we continue to lose our good players, there's going to be a lot of fans very disillusioned with the club & not renewing - me included.

Would love to know how the Madejski lovers could then defend the guy once we are one of the botom teams in the championship struggling to stay up. We're not too good to go down especially not with all the injury worries we have.

Seems to me he is fed up of the club so why can't he just sell it at a fair price & get lost?!

I have been somewhere in the middle on the madejski and cost cutting debate untill now. But this is the final straw, he needs to leave!!!! we should actually protest. He spent all that time getting us into the Prem league, brick by brick, now year on year they are just pulling it down! why!? Wheres the Passion?

No numbers but my guess is minimum £3m ish. Hoping it's more as that's daylight robbery. Better be a big fat sell on clause in there.
