are we even going to have enough time to get at least 2 players in? 1 striker 1 defender

Thanks for telling us early at least anyway IcelandicStokie. The amount of texts I've received concerning this, you'd swear we had been relegated! Feels like we have..

Also, where the oxf*rd are quotes of £6m coming from? I'm pretty sure he has a £3M release clause doesn't he.

This summer has really been awful for Reading FC, I can see exactly why people are becoming disenfranchised with Reading and Madejski now.

Doesn't leave us much time to get loanees in does it? That's all we'll be getting - my guess is we won't even be spending £1m of the money made from Gylfi.

Talk about rip the heart out of the club in one fell swoop. Gutted.

Boyband I'd walk now if I was Brian McDermott. Feel so sorry for the bloke.

brendywendy Noooooooooooo! If its not for 5 million, and we dont get to spend 3 of it we are oxf*rd,and im angry. I thought we were trying to do it by just shifting the dead weight, but obviously it wasnt enough, and mcd has decided on the back of our injuries that we need a defender and striker more than gylfi. Which is probably true.we do have to squeeze him into a formation.
The boy was genius though, and im gutted hes gone so soon. I understand why, but if we dont get players in,and if they arent decent, and if we lose a kebe or a mcanuff too ill be as despondant as ive been about rfc for a decade. Very sad day.

Which is the mortal danger, now.

Hugely disappointed by this. Judging by the start Gylfi has made it looks as though he would be in for another great campaign.

This leaves us little time to replace him. That'll be difficult in itself but a getting a goalscorer will surely be important. I'd imagine we'd move to a 4-4-2 formation without Gylfi.

I'd have thought his value would have increased if we held on to him for this campaign.

I'd be happier if we brought in Zurab and a striker with the funds. However, I can't see this happening!

Did Siggy's name cost more then others on your shirt?

I am suprised that you were prepared to spend more for him then out other players (mostly of questionable quality).

Do You See?

I was arguing about transfer policy with one of the drones who always stick up for the club recently on these pages (Sun Tzu probably?) who piped up that we weren't selling off the academy products. I think that this move shows exactly what the agenda is - if it can command a fee, sell it and make do with the dross we have left.

In all honesty, this well-run club deserves to be relegated again and playing in front of 6,000 crowds again.

It would be better if we could keep Gylfi and get Madejski to spend some money on Zurab.

Still think that currently operating costs and expenditure >>> current income....given the reduced season tickets, reduced revenue from marketing/sponsorship..

20,000 ST @ Premier prices >>>>> 12,000 ST @ this years reduced rate
Empty boxes this season, reduced matchday hospitality numbers, fewer sponsors...etc...the list goes on....

And on the obverse:

smaller squad = lower wage bill
Championship wages = lower wage bill
No 'stars' = lower wage bill
Massive reduction in back room staff = lower wages
Fewer wins = lower bill for bonuses
Low profile manager = ? lower wages

Has JM taken a cut in his cash flow? And I think we all accept that cash is now flowing to him....

I wanted Karacan but didn't know if his number was going to be changed (which it did). Thought safe bet was Siggy as he'd just signed a new deal.
