2 world wars, 1 world cup If we do get 6 mill for him and spend 1mill each on a decent striker, a decent CB and a not-bad replacement who McDermott can build up (like he did with Gylfi), we'll be 3 MILLION POUNDS RICHER and will have pretty much sorted otu our squad!

Absolutely, but we haven't an awful lot of time left now to do any deals of course! Hopefully Nick(y) Hammond is working overtime today. Wouldn't be a surprise to hear a couple of season-long loans sorted out on the hoof rather than anyone permanent.

Anyway, I predict we'll sign Robert Codner, Lubomir Blaha and Alan Pardew as player coach.

If tha price is true then i cant see we had any option but to accept, release clause or not. And id imagine it may be 4.25 now with a million plus in clauses to be payed at a later date.Hoffenheim to win that league.

Does make you wonder if the reason we kept so many good players for so long was Coppell fighting tooth & nail to keep them.

Sir John Madejski Interview: Knight of passion invests for future

So you can carry on funding the businesses that need funding?
Absolutely, yes. We’ve got many assets that are still producing revenue. Malaysian Motor Trader is one of them, this [Madejski Stadium] is another, the Royal Palm Hotel in the Galapagos… that’s the only five-star hotel in the Galapagos Islands.

..note that the team isnt on his list !

Turns8 WITHOUT MADEJSKI THERE WOULDN'T BE A CLUB IN THE FIRST PLACE.......

Some people have really short memories....

Selling one player isn't going to crumble the whole club ffs....

Not just one player though is it

Whats the point in building the club up like he did and then just slowly sending us back where we started.

ZacNaloen
Zammo Well done to all at the top at Reading Football Club. Should we sell Gylfi, then the reasons why need to given by Mr Mad himself. If not, I'm out. Goodbye RFC.

They activated his release clause.

Next?

Madejski could encourage him to stay. Tell him we'll build a team round him, offer him a few more quid etc.. Just because some random German side have bid enough, doesn't mean we can't fight tooth and nail to keep him does it ?

There goes the most talented player this club will has seen in 20 years, and probably won't ever see again.

Congrats to Hoffenheim for doing what any smart premiership club would have done weeks ago.

Might take a Hoffenheim shirt up to the club shop and ask them to put Sigurdsson on the back then wear it to the next game

ZacNaloen He can turn them down sure, but he'd be stupid too.

Why when he'd likely secure a move to a premiership club in the next transfer window?

This smacks of the club wanting to sell him rather than the player wanting to go IMO.

Ha ha. "Madejski could encourage him to stay". That's the funniest thing I've read on here.

Jonny just posted on GetReading...

http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/footb ... r_6million

Sources suggest that Reading’s star midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson is on the verge of signing for Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim in a deal believed to be in the region of £6million.

It is understood that Sigurdsson is in Germany today to discuss terms and is set to sign before the transfer deadline on Tuesday evening.

Last season’s top scorer has continued where he left off last season with two goals so far in the Championship, including a deft finish against Leicester in Royals’ 2-1 win at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday.

Should the deal go ahead, it will be a bitter blow for Royals fans, who had been hoping their prize asset would stay at Madejski Stadium for at least one more season.

Adding salt into the wound is the fact that the Academy graduate signed a new contract at Reading just a few weeks ago, while boss Brian McDermott is unlikely to receive any of the transfer money to stregthen his squad.

He seems to think that BM will not get any of the funds... Fcking great. Fu<k you cnuts.

Good bit of business, we don't need to sign anyone before the window closes anyway

And its always the same with football fans, people go on about they hate a club or an owner etc goodbye etc they will still go to games, still buy kits etc a la england all that went on at the world cup then the next friendly comes along and 70,000+ people in england shirts @ £40+ a go all applauding the very players and manager they supposedly hated only a couple of months ago

GET OVER IT

We have no choice but to let him speak to them, his release clause was triggered. If he then accepts their personal terms there is nothing we can do about it.
