Mad Dog's Ghost Talking of gambling, I'm now wondering whether Williams is not actually as poor as he makes out, and that he's been nobbled by far eastern betting syndicates staking huge amounts on sliced passes, poor first touches and ludicrous last minute fouls.

brendywendy but if you spend it, you increase next seasons shortfall, and make it more likley that more players will have to be sold for financial reasons.
and that isntbrain surgery

Looks like RFC are Hendrie's last hope. Bad boy image still lingers. Will donut do a McGhee and let him drift off somewhere else?
Emmmm Still should be cheap but is he any good.

facaldaqui When I read the name Hendrie, my heart sank, because he is one of those players I've always loved to hate. Petulant, smarmy wide-boy, too full of himself. He did not seem the type of player we usually put up with, though Lita had an element of that.
But then I thought for a moment and realised how long ago it was that I thought that of him. Since then, I have seen him on television for some club or other showing assuidity on the pitch and going out of his way to keep his nose out of any trouble. So it's probably fair to say that he's a reformed character. I do also remember that he was an exceptionally skilful player, who, I believe, even got into the England team at one point. So I'm hopeful--but we never got much out of faded stars like Houghton, Ferdinand, and Keown.

Ark Royal We need a CF and judging by the latest additions, I think George Camsell would be an asset. Notched 59 for Middlesbrough in 1926/27 and I am pretty sure he would now be unattached as he died in 1966. Looks totally nails as well.

I think the difference maybe that Houghton, Ferdinand and Keown knews their careers were over and were sjust serving out time, but Hendrie's isn't. He has, apparently, real hunger to succeed and a determination to prove himself and have another chance. It was hunger that Coppell always looked for in a player, so this might be a master-stroke. And if not, it's not actually cost us anything.

Houghton, though well past his best, showed real touches of class when he was here. And he always says good things about us.
Which is nice.

Riskit for a biscuit Derby are a team who should be miles behind us, not one supplying has-beens.
