but if you spend it, you increase next seasons shortfall, and make it more likley that more players will have to be sold for financial reasons.

If you don't spend it and you end up having a poor season you'll most likely end up having a bigger shortfall next season because you'll lose regular fans and possibly end up getting relegated into a league with less prize money and away support and thus starting a potentially never ending sprial.

Now that's a gamble...

When I read the name Hendrie, my heart sank, because he is one of those players I've always loved to hate. Petulant, smarmy wide-boy, too full of himself. He did not seem the type of player we usually put up with, though Lita had an element of that.

But then I thought for a moment and realised how long ago it was that I thought that of him. Since then, I have seen him on television for some club or other showing assuidity on the pitch and going out of his way to keep his nose out of any trouble. So it's probably fair to say that he's a reformed character. I do also remember that he was an exceptionally skilful player, who, I believe, even got into the England team at one point. So I'm hopeful--but we never got much out of faded stars like Houghton, Ferdinand, and Keown.

He has, apparently, real hunger to succeed and a determination to prove himself and have another chance. It was hunger that Coppell always looked for in a player, so this might be a master-stroke. And if not, it's not actually cost us anything.

We need a CF and judging by the latest additions, I think George Camsell would be an asset. Notched 59 for Middlesbrough in 1926/27 and I am pretty sure he would now be unattached as he died in 1966. Looks totally nails as well.

His best position nowadays is probably playing behind the forwards so that he can ghost into the box

He always gave his best and certainly wasn't one of these players looking for a final pay-day. As you say, he could pick out a good pass, he just didn't have the legs when he came to us.

What makes you think that? Derby are about the same level as Reading, possibly a little worse off because of mismanagement at board level (something we don't see much of at Reading). Don't they still get crowds of about 30k at every home game? Imagine how well Little Reading could be doing if they doubled their gate receipts every season...
