Team to face Barnsley (H)

by Wimb » 19 Sep 2010 11:25

Well time to put yesterday's result and move forward....

A clear week ahead means that on paper we'll have every member of the squad available for selection, except for Howard.

For me, I'd set this team out and stick with it for at least the next 3 games.

(4-4-2)

Feds

Harte (I'd be tempted to play Armstrong but after so long out best not to rush him)
Khizanishvili
Mills
Griffin

McAnuff
Gunnarsson
Karacan
Kebe

Hunt
Church (not got much against Long, but Hunt had his best spell when playing with Doyle and I see more of Doyle in Church then I do in Long)

^ Assuming Griffin's fit I'd go with this team although I'd question whether either Kish or Hunt are fully match fit.

'greed Pearcey but Khiz was deemed fit enough to captain his country recently and Hunt's now had a good few weeks of reserve team/carling cup/subs bench run outs to at least suggest he's capable of an hour.

Last I heard BBC Berks were suggesting he'd be match fit by November...

Blimey, did not realise it was long as that. For me he is the missing link. Gunnarrson just cant put the shift in or has the quality of a decent Championship side.

Federici

Griffin Mills Harte Williams
Kishi

Karacan

Mcanuff Kebe
Antonio

Long

How long ago was it when everyone was bleating about how good and strong we looked in the CM area? Does not look so clever now does it?

We had five first-team centre-mids - sold one, one injured, one suspended. It's football; these things happen.

Exactly. And because of this, there is still a lack of cover up front and in CD. What happens if Mills gets injured and is out for 5-6 weeks? And heaven forbid if Church or Long get crocked. Seems that no-one gets dropped through lack of form these days either...

Injuries and suspensions happen.

We've got enough players, except for the obvious deficiency up front but even then if we play Long and Hunt together up front in a 4-4-2 (not our preferred formation I know) we will be ok.

I like Wimb's formation.

What do you mean "these days"? When was the last time a Reading manager dropped someone due to lack of form?

We were fine and then the club produced a series of errors that has now resulted in us having as weak a centre mid as we have strikeforce. If we lose Jimmy in jan we're down in my opinion, literally the only spark we have.

Series of errors? Please show me one, let alone a whole series.

Well guess we can both dream about that being the starting line up!
