Not sure how anyone in their right mind can vote for a drunken waster as the best ever Reading player, especially the league we were playing in, but he would be up there as the cult hero along with the likes of Billy Whitehurst. It's very subjective, is it your personal fav or technically the best players to play for the club, if the latter then the likes of.

1. Neil Webb
2. Nicky Shorey
3. Keith Curle

My personal favs:

1. Cureton
2. Trev
3. Shaka

Top three for me in no particular order are:

Michael Gilkes - Favourite all time Reading player, and was untouchable on his day.

Simon Osborn - Quality Midfielder and scored some great goals in his time at Reading.

Nicky Forster - The only Reading striker we have had in recent times who could play up there on his own. Wish he was five years younger and playing for this club at the moment!

Can't really comment on good/bad playing, but in the time I've been watching I've liked:

Phil Parkinson
Graeme Murty
Jimmy Kebe

I also like Trevor Senior but never saw him play.

1. Shaka - Favourite player ever. top bloke
2. Super Simon Osborn - still convinced if he hadn't got crooked midway through season 94/95, we may well have won the title and not had the heartache of Bolton. Sheer quality
3. Kevin Doyle - the only one of the 05 - 07 side to really "make a name for himself"

Subs , Richie Bowman, Foz, Jamie C, Murts and Sidders

2. Darius Wdowcyk
3. Murts

Talking of Shaka as a top bloke is nailed on. Talking of other top blokes, to coin a phrase, I would most definitely add Trevor Senior, Stuart Beavon, Mick Gooding and Kevin Bremner to the list. How times have changed.

All the "Best players ever" are taken from the last three decades or so...

What about the "legends" from the 1927 semi final?

Just shows how much of a legend they are to most fans who live for the moment only...

What about?

Alan Foster (who put three past Milan)
Alfred Messer
Maurice Edelston

It's got to be Robin Friday + 2 from many others.

Sorry to the fans who never saw him, but he WAS, without doubt, the best!

Trust me.

That I've seen play for us....
Doyle
Gilkes
Gylfi (yes really)

My faves....

1) Martin Butler - held the ball up so well and Curo was never the same without him.

2) Skippy - we would have won the play-off final in '95 if his hamstring had held up

3) Lita- great goalscorer

4) Mautone- Amazing keeper and he once shared some chips with me!!

5) Darius - unspellable surname, but what a player!!

6) Caskey

Got to be three from the 106 season/Prem years. That was the best side ever.

Little
Sidwell
Shorey

I think Gylfi had enough to break into the top 3 but sadly he left before we ever really got to see it.

Obviously we had loads of lower league legends but they were excellent.

Kebe the pick of the current crop 8)

Royalee LOL at Gilkes getting anywhere near a top 10 let alone 3.

Depends on the criteria. HSSC asked for players that you'd pay to watch. Anyone who who stood on the Southbank will clearly recall the roar and sense of anticipation whenever Gilkesy got the ball on "our" side. Usually in the second half. Real hairs on the back of the neck stuff. Obviously the ball usually ended up in the Tilehurst End, but that wasn't the point. Anyway:

Simon Osborn
Michael Gilkes
Darius Wdowcyzk

So many to choose from. My personal favourites include
Dariusz Wdowczyk, Richie Bowman and Paul Cannoville.

How good where Martin Hicks, Gilksey along with Steves Death and Richardson
in the lower leagues?

Doubt if any of them will be remembered like Doyle, Sidwell, Hanneman et al will be, however they will always be part of my memories of RFC
