TheMaraudingDog Rooney has well and truley shafted himself here. No way back for him at United, no chance of him joining City and his wife won't leave the North West as she looks after her ill sister. He's tried a game which had backfired and could well f*ck his whole life up.

Not sure he's really shafted himself as he reportedly wants out and now he's going to be leaving sooner rather than later and not being 'forced' to stay like Rondaldo was.

I can still see him going to City, despite what a few dopy toerags have to say about it. That never stopped the likes of Sol Campbell or Alan Smith crossing the divide did it?

As for going abroad, I'm sure the Rooneys could work something out.

I still wouldn't rule out him staying at Utd either. Odd things go on and there's no doubt in my mind the majority of fans would quickly forget once he's kissed the badge a few times and signed a new contract. Just like they stopped boo'ing Rio after he refused to sign a contract for the sake of another 20-30k a week.

I think United has more important things to think about than a player who's leaving the club.

Football is mental.

Rooney played hardball and United caved in?

No need to ditch those white Pele t-shirts yet.

But I thought he'd fcuked up his life?

For his and Englands sake I'm pretty pleased he's going to stay. It'll be funny seeing some of the reaction from those United fans going nuts and slagging him off the last few days!

Not all is forgiven with Rooney, will be a while before he gets his name sung like has been done.

Rooney got a bit of a scare last night, ran to the club this morning and opened then closed contract talks in record time.

Fair play to those United fans last night.

LOL @ another player City fans thought they had

The non-blinkered view is that Rooney wanted x amount per week, United said no, he threatened to leave and United then offered him the wages he wanted in the first place.

LOL @ Rooney "getting a scare"

Basically, LOL @ grown men getting so upset over a player leaving a football team they support that they'd go to his house to protest or threaten him.

Badge-kissing odds for his next game?

Although I suppose that will only happen if he scores, which seems unlikely these days

I wonder if these were the same United fans who were going to kill the Glaziers?

It sounds as though the death threats worked.
Presumably it was Fergie and Gill who paid a few Manc smackheads to go round to Rooney's house and put the frighteners on him.
I actually think this is good news for City because if Rooney had joined he would have upset too many of their players at a time when they look to be starting to gel.
It would have been a bit like the Rodney Marsh signing-a player who's arrival upset the make-up of a very good City team.
