For the record, should a miracle happen and Portsmouth be laid to rest then the Championship table will change, we'll slip a place to 8th but get a game in hand. Cardiff and Palace are big losers and Leicester are mightily improved GD wise:

Pos Club Pld Pts
1 QPR 10 26
2 Norwich 10 19
==================================
3 Watford 10 18
4 Cardiff 9 17
5 Ipswich 9 17
6 Burnley 10 16
--------------------------------------------------
7 Swansea 10 16
8 Reading 9 15
9 Leeds United 10 14
10 Nott'm Forest 10 13
11 Millwall 10 13
12 Doncaster 10 13
13 Derby 10 12
14 Coventry 9 12
15 Barnsley 10 12
16 Hull 10 12
17 Scunthorpe 10 11
18 Middlesbrough 9 10
19 Leicester 9 8
20 Sheff Utd 9 8
21 Preston 9 7
========================================
22 Bristol City 9 6
23 Crystal Palace 9 5

And what a shame it'd be if the did fold. NOT.
Should have disappeared earlier this year, but the judge bottled it.

Lets hope for the sake of football they are wound up closed down, the ground flatened for gypsy caravans to reside in a permanent home. Fratten caravan park has a nice ring to it.

Sad for the fans, but part of me thinks that only by seeing a high(ish)-profile club folding will the rest of the football world will do something about the dire financial straits that clubs are allowed to get into.

It happens a fair bit in non-league football, even to ex-League clubs such as Halifax, Chester, Newport etc, but League clubs to somehow seem to linger on. Accrington and Aldershot are obvious exceptions, but Maidstone folded too, and people seem to forget they were ever in the league.

Wycombe Royal
A. Andronikou, 13/09/10 We have had to push out the boat for Kitson and Lawrence. Their wages are £19,000 and £20,000 but it was something we are comfortable with. Gone are the days when extraordinary pay packets put the club in financial trouble.

A. Andronikou, 14/10/10 We cannot trade into next month. By the end of this month we will not have sufficient funds to pay wages. We have no cash flow, and as administrators we cannot continue to trade with thin air.

What a clown.

Quoted for emphasis. What a load of crap.

Destitute Pompey set to sign Premier league Greg Halford on loan from Wolves according to today's paper.

and in other Pompey news, Big Dave has been shouting his mouth off again...

"this place seems extra special. It's an old stadium, in the town, community-orientated. Not a soulless bowl of plastic seats" "there's a perception clubs are invincible. That will change if one folds"

and here's an old chestnut..."I once worked in a supermarket (really Dave you never mention it?) So every day for me playing football is a blessing"

So much for cutting your cloth accordingly! Makes you wonder why SJM bothers. Pompey have a squad of Prem players quite capable of going up this season all on 20k plus a week.

If they go under its bad. I've got no love for them but its always sad when a club dies. They will come back in a new guise and have to work through the non-league divisions before re-entering the Football League. It will be a hard slog though. Some good might come out of it because its time football clubs ran their businesses more sensibly. Its also time footballers wages were capped.
