PEARCEY If they go under its bad. I've got no love for them but its always sad when a club dies.

DIsagree.

If they go bust then its the wake up call football needs. It's not as if they made a couple of bad investment calls - they were financially rotten from top to bottom. There were a lot of angry people when they managed to win their court case vs HMRC whilst Andronikou carried on in his uniquely smug and annoying way.

Good riddance as far as I'm concerned.

This.

I always thought I'd be delighted when Aldershot folded, but after the initial LOLs it was a bit crap really. I always enjoy going to FP, and it'll be shame to miss it for a few seasons.

I can think of some benefits though, from a purely parochial perspective - we're to see John Portsmouth FC Westwood crying his eyes out on TV, and it only leaves two relegation places to be filled.

At the moment I am viewing this as a bluff simliar to the one the Crystal Palace Administrator called a few months back to get all parties to smell the coffee.

By naming and shaming Gaydemak or however you spell it they have put the ball in his court and said do you really want to be known as the man who killed bambi, i mean Pompey.

Of course sooner or later one of these threats will be genuine and this might be the time it is.

I cant feel sorry for them, and I live here and my best mates are Pompey fans.
Even after going so close to being shut down last season, instead of taking relegation on the chin and trying to stabalise the club. They just carried on the same way, signing players like Kitson and Lawrence for 20,000 a week.

Can't see Kitson being paid 20k a week by Pompey, I can see Stoke paying 10k and Pompey 10k

Agree totally.

Something bad has to happen to someone. Pompey will find a last minute buyer and there is no way they will go bust but these stories will hopefully hit home with a few extravagent boards over the country

It doesn't look like finding a buyer is the problem.

Gaydamak and Chanrai do not have a happy history:

September 2009:
The Tel Aviv District Court yesterday ordered Arcadi Gaydamak to pay NIS 100 million to Levi Kushnir and Balram Chainrai, a British citizen. Gaydamak did not file a statement of defense in the lawsuit filed by the two businessmen against him.

Judge Avi Zamir ordered Gaydamak to pay each of the plaintiffs $11.4 million, plus interest from the date the lawsuit was filed in July 2008, and NIS 500,000 in court costs.

June 2010:
Arcadi Gaydamak has reached an out-of-court settlement with Balram Chainrai and Kital Holdings & International Development Ltd., following which the Tel Aviv District Court cancelled Chainrai and Kital's petition to declare Gaydamak bankrupt.

In March 2010, the court accepted Chainrai and Kital's petition and issued bankruptcy warning against Gaydamak in the amount of NIS 90 million. Gaydamak was ordered to pay Chainrai $23 million, plus interest from the date of the Supreme Court ruling against Gaydamak in September 2008. Gaydamak was also ordered to pay court costs.

I hope they do go bust - for the sake of football. We really need someone to go out of business to shake things up. But I am sure they will sort it out at the last minute as usual. I will believe it when I see it.

You never will.

All these stories in the press are put there for a reason - to make idiot football fans think something is being done. Nothing will ever come of this

Pompey will be contending a PO place in May with a new owner or financed by the football league.

I agree - it will be a real disgrace if they end up getting promoted again! How can a bust club afford the likes of Lawrence and Kitson?

I won't believe this until I see a league table with 23 teams in a picture of that bell ringing 'superfan' crying.

For the sake of fottball in general, and to knock some sense into the overspending clubs, Portsmouth have got to go.

I, for one, will shed no tears whatsoever.
