Day Trippers / Mongs

by Irvinchangeyaname » 07 Nov 2010 16:08

I spend many a restless night wondering, am I a day tripper? Even worse, am I this person to which the elite amongst you refer to as a mong?

I only get to maybe half a dozen away games a season, most of which are local. Does this alone make me a day tripper? I sing, but I travel alone so am not part of a 'crew'. How many away games does a fan have to miss to be classed as a day tripper?

Personally I thought the support was pretty good yesterday, not just in numbers. I'm always pleased to see a full away end regardless of whether they fit the accepted HNA version of a decent fan.

Please reassure me and let me sleep peacefully.

I'm quite glad there are some "mongs" that travel away. I was there yesterday and may have been one when I was slagging off their fans in the Ellerslie nearest me. so what?

Most of the people on here are mongs to be fair - so by definition you're going to find a fair few at away games.

I wouldn't say you were a mong Irvinechangeyname - though your user name is odd.

There were some funny blokes a few rows in front of me in the Z6 section - one kept shouting out "twat head" and another, behind me, called someone a "effing plonker". If you're going to use the F word, you might as well go the whole hog and call them another swear word to go with it, rather than plonker! I wouldn't call them mongs either though.

I was in Z6, some Rangers fans kept singing fat boy fat boy give us a song. I wanted them to be more specific looking around me.

No, that wasn't me! I'm not fat either! I was in row C.

Anyway, I was happy we had a few "mongs" giving it to the rangers fans at the back of the stand to my right. Why not? It was a nice distraction in the first half.

Upper tier had pretty good support, more day trippers though. Couldn't hear the lower tier though so struggled to get any kind of proper banter going. LOL @ the 'perfect' fans on here who call people mongs for getting wound up at a football game. Im not sure what the word would be as it's not national. But i guess it could be classed as patrioism.(and i spelt that wrong i guess) So what we want to sing? We want to chant songs about she left him because he's fat. What's more mongish is sitting down the whole game and clapping every 30 minutes to some simple song. Im not saying we're better fans. But teams play better with a loud following. Even if it's abuse to the oppositition. They know we're behind them. QPR had dreadful fans. Only heard them after they scored their 3rd.

I thought the atmosphere in the away end was pretty decent yesterday.

Self hating fans, no wonder we struggle for atmosphere.
