Hoop Blah
Svlad Cjelli TBH, since all of the players used were within the named squad I can't see how a fine could be imposed.

But surely the same could've been said about the weakened Wolves side. It may not have been a confirmed squad list, but they were all players in the Wolves squad.

Changing 9 or 10 players from one game to another is obviously picking a back up side instead of the first team, but ultimately that should be the managers prerogative.

I might be wrong on this one but didn't the PL squad registration thing come into place this season? The backdrop has changed somewhat which is why Blackpool shouldn't be punished like Wolves were

But the fact that they're all in the squad means that they're all effectively PL quality players - there weren't PL named squads last year so Wolves could theoretically have brought in apprentices who were on their books.

You're right it's the first season of the squad, but I don't see any reason why that should change things.

Any player from the Wolves squad (the players registered to play, not just a notional list of players limited to 25) last year was at McCarthy's disposal so why shouldn't he use them?

Why does naming a player in the 25 make them any different to the players in Wolves squad last season (bearing in mind that a club can have as many 'home grown' youngsters eligable to play but not in the 25)?

As Blackpool could as well as long as they'd be in the country for long enough.

Edit: Theoretically, if Wolves are paying a player to play for them whilst in the Premiership then they're deemed a Premiership quality player in the same way as naming them in a pointless list of 25.

To you and me there is no practical difference but it's Premierleague's way of "regulating" it.

If a player is under 21 then they dont have to be registered

Olly was saying how can you say this is a weakened team? Easy, see if the same 11 or even half the team start against West Ham.

I would love it, love it, if Man Yoo play a weakened team against one of their relegation rivals in the final knockings of the seasons. I'm sure Olly will see the funny side and have a few funny quips to make about Obertan and Macheda being top 4 standard

You're ridiculous.

Its not upto you, the FA or any other nosey twat what team blackpool decide to play. They put themselves first and run their club how they deem to be beneficial to them, simple.

Im afraid the league is now a business and teams like blackpool are financially poorer than man utd. Perhaps you and your man united would like to give blackpool a few million for some more strength in depth in their squad with additional " stronger first team" players?

Thought not.

It's simple. This season we had a 25 man squad system introduced. If all the players Ollie has selected over the last two matches are in the 25 man squad then he has done nothing wrong. If he has included some youngsters who have hardly featured before then he is open to punishment.

Absolutley. The FA need to leave well alone. Who are they to tell a manager who to play?

Nothing to do with the FA - it'll be down to the individual competition organiser, in this case the PL.

The 25 is pretty irrelevant though as so many young players don't need to be registered.

Ridiculous? Why? because I view it differently to you?

Nothing wrong with resting two or three key players but 11 changes. 11 changes again at the weekend and back to the first team I see. "your Man United would like to give blackpool a few million for some more strength in depth...." now who is being ridiculous?

Holloway has thrown away his right to question any one else on fielding their reserves against some of their relegation rivals. Maybe he is trying to manufacture a seige mentality to try and motivate his boys but he is destroying the credibility of the premier league making 11 changes.

Were Wolves fans happy with the team selection at Old Trafford last season, yes or no?

Maybe he doesn't want that "right" because he appreciates that everyone can choose from a squad of players how they see fit?

Thing is, where do you draw the line as far as 'too many changes' is concerned? If you say 10 changes is 'too many' (as the FA did with Wolves last year), what about 9?

If 9 is 'too many', what about 8?

Still too many? OK, how about 7? 6? 5?

Just where do you draw the line on this?

Maybe, but we'll see if the subject of team selection, squads of 25 etc, is raised again in the last few weeks of the season as some clubs scramble to keep their noses in the PL trough.

Um, it doesn't matter if they are happy or not - the manager manages the team. Not you, not the FA and not the fans either. Why are people struggling to understand this simple concept? You cannot undermine a manager when its clear he believes his actions are the best for the club both short term and long term.
I remember a time when middlebrough had so many injuries through burnout and other reasons they couldn't field a full team, they subsequently asked the FA/PL to postpone the game and when they didn't they failed to show up and were fined three points, three points that if boro had turned up and played and lost 100-0 they wouldn't have been relegated the end of the season. Where was their morality in trying to force a club to play a game with no team then? They should have postponed it.

If holloway feels resting some of his players and letting some of them get of niggles is the way to go thats upto him. No one has any right whatsoever to tell him otherwise. The point about the 25 man squad someone raised earlier is also a good one, if the players are in the 25 man squad then they can play, simple.

Let's just say we view it differently FR.

The Middlesboro situation you mention is a bit different again. They should have played the game even if it meant playing some youth team members. Holloway was not resting some players with niggles but a whole team for tactical reasons.

Every team has a squad of 25 but they will not be of equal ability. Every team will have what their manager considers to be their strongest starting 11. For the integrity of the game, for the sake of respecting other teams in the league, and not short changing the fans, a manager should (IMHO) pick his strongest 11 for every game - injuries, suspensions permitting.

We will not agree on this one!
