Dream Reading XI

Following on from my thread IF YOU COULD..If you could pick a reading team out of the players that you have seen play and make a reading XI which players would you choose? including a subs bench and if you want a past manager with an assistant.I dont know if this has been done before on here as im new and if it has im sure the thread can be closed.I think it would be good fun to do and make an intresting read.I havent really thought about my team too much and will proberly wait and see if this thread is a goer first and see if people are intrested in adding to it.Loan players can be accepted as they donned the royals shirt but obviously they would be at the point in their career when they joined us and not their prime so..i doubt many people will be picking ferdinand,keown archibald(though i thought he did ok for us in his very short spell at elm park).We have had some fantastic players at the club in the past so...im sure it wont be an easy thing to do.

Jesus, I think I've just cum thinking about what a great passing side that could be! Wdowczyk, Sigurdsson, Kitson is an awesome spine for intelligent passing. Parky makes up for Sig's lightweightness. Little and Shorey also very good passers.

I think cmonurz chose Rougier because he just liked him. If I was to choose a team of players I liked, who brought a smile to my face, whatever their ability, I think I'd go for:

It does raise the question of how good Sigurdsson is in the larger scheme of things. There's no arguing with his amazing scoring rate, but I never felt he was running a game, as Sidwell did, so I didn't include him. He could well go on to be a high-class European footballer, but I think he could also go on to be no more than a solid player for teams outside the elite. Reading may have been clever to sell him while the iron was hot.

Re Rougier, yup, purely because I liked him, possessed more skill with the football that I've seen at this level (even eclipsing the genius that was Mass Sarr in his first couple of games). That he only turned up and showed us this skill once every couple of months mattered not a jot, he could dummy his way out of a straight jacket. Sadly will most be remembered for having the face that was the unfortunate recipient of Barry Hunter's massive toe punt at Wembley against Walsall.

Great names and a great team but too many identical c/fs there..Dixon and Friday would not have worked I think so Chappell starts with Friday and I would have Bowman for Parky and Wojcek for Hicks (who did not play at a high level)..and no sub goalie..got to be Shaks . .. instead of one of the forwards....All a matter of opinion of course.
