Percy's Rocket
Trainspotter Just been looking through 'Royals Remembered' by Alan Sedunary. A fanatastic who's who of Reading FC players. Please can we have an update as it stops at 2001. Some great players have turned out for Reading. Brought back a few memories.
My team:

Steve Death
Graham M
Martin Hicks
Aidie Williams
Maurice Evans
Phil Parkinson
Simon Osborn
Kerry Dixon
Robin Friday
Tom Jenkins

Subs:
Jimmy Quinn
Trevor Senior
Les Chappell
Colin Meldrum
Denis Allen
Dick Spiers
Neil Webb

Great names and a great team but too many identical c/fs there..Dixon and Friday would not have worked I think so Chappell starts with Friday and I would have Bowman for Parky and Wojcek for Hicks (who did not play at a high level)..and no sub goalie..got to be Shaks . .. instead of one of the forwards....All a matter of opinion of course.

Great team except that you have only picked 10 in the starting line up, no left back. Left back would have to be Shorey I think.
Disagree that Dixon and Friday would not have worked together. Agree that I would have Bowman for Parky and Dovecheck for Hicks.
I don't quite remember seeing Maurice Evans play, - he was at the end of his career when I first went, so I bring in Glen Little and play Bowman in the middle. Shaka to replace Senior on the bench.

My mistake. Old age and watching Reading for over 50 years!!! My 11th player and left back was Colin Meldrum. A superb left back.

Hislop

Murty
Curle/Williams (I really can't decide)
Wdowczyk
Shorey

Little
Osborn
Sidwell
Sigurdsson (gets in on the left to make room for him and because Gilkes and Convey didn't quite do it for me)

Kitson
Forster

Subs -
Hahnemann
Gooding (rightly kept Parky out of the team in real life and this fantasy team)
Doyle (the choice between him and Forster was very tough)
Harper
Quinn (Senior just misses out which says a lot about the quality of our forwards)
Curle/Williams
Gilkes/Convey (another tough one if both at their best)

My time covers the last 25 years, but my memories of the likes of Senior and Bev are blurred a bit so it favours players from the early 90's onwards. It's hard to narrow it down in some positions, especially upfront where we seem to have been blessed with some very good players.

Forgot Salako!

Suddenly my Rougier fascination seems careless.

Good call. One of my heroes as a kid. I reckon overall Shorey would shade it over Meldrum but Shorey did let himself down in his final season with us. One thing you never ever got from Meldrum was poor attitude.

Shaka

Griffin - he IS a better RB than Murts
Curle - Quick as fcuk
Wdowczyk - Class
Shorey - Apart from his last season with us he kept getting better and better. Thanks Pards

Little - Just for that one season where everything clicked
Sidwell -
Harper - Simply, the best CM partnership I have ever seen
Gilkes - on his day unplayable

Quinn - never scored tap ins and could head the ball more accurately than some can actually pass
Senior - The most natural goalscorer I have ever seen

Subs

Hahnemann
Kerr
Sonko
Osborn
Sigurdsson
Cureton
Friday
