Back From The Game - Leeds

by Kitson12 » 27 Nov 2010 17:55

Well, where do I start.

We were good, there's no denying that, it's just we can't seem to finish a chance. Long, though his usual hard-working self, just doesn't seem able to control a ball when it matters, the chance where he was in the box in the first half and wasted the chance thanks to a horrendous touch.
Kebe changed the game, we looked much more likely to score once he came on, he does look back to his best after looking ineffective last week when he came on, and I'd like to see him start up at Sheffield United next week.
Antonio, what does he have to do to not get a start, raw maybe, but talented, and looked good when he came on. Especially that jinky run into the box and hitting the post near the end.
Leigertwood, I'm not convinced as of yet, I want to see more of him before I think he's crap. He was however ineffective today.
Zurab man of the match, very assured, though Pearce was good too.

How Grandel get sent off I'll never know. And Schmeicel kept them in the game with some good saves, and a few lucky ones, such as Harte's freekick in the second half.

Oh and the ref, absolute homer, East stand Lino not much better either.

Feds 7- Made a few decent saves, didnt have to do that much
Griff 8- another solid performance
Zurab 9- Very calm and composed, never looked in danger, MOTM
Pearce 7- needs to stop hoofing the ball all the time, however very solid
Harte 6- poor passing today, unlucky with the freekick
McAnuff-6 Needs to improve his decision making insteading of dordling on the ball for too long
Karacan 7- Usual self, hard working, energetic
Leigertwood 6- off the pace, improved as the game went on though
Church 6- ineffective for me today
Hunt 7- Very hard working, should of taken his chances though
Long 8- Once again very good around the box but needs to know where the goal is

Tabb 7- Far better than Leigerwood
Kebe 8- Made a real difference to the game when he came on, a must for sheffield next week
Antonio 7- Made a good impact on the game unlucky with the shot that hit the bar

Officials 3- Usual shit officials
Leeds 6- Dirty, cheating, jammy bastards

Leeds didn't look much cop.I think they had 3 attempts on target all game. If their team matched the support.......

First half was a fetid dour struggle. Two mediocre sides spending too much time launching the ball into the channels, Jobi full of tricks but lacking an end product, Church completely inneffective, and Leighterwood looking no better than anyone we already have.

Second half was a better spectacle, the introduction of Kebe gave us a threat down the right, something that we had completely lacked up until then. Our defence played well. Kish looked the part, and Pearce went about his business with aplomb.

I thought Leigertwood had quite a good game, seemed to read it well and pick out our players. Long had another good game but lacking end product tbf. Jobi just fades when Kebe comes on. Kebe up front with Jobi on the right please Brian.

So that's now 8 points out of 12 that have been thrown away through the want of a natural and talented striker, although Madejski and his rectum crew will no doubt continue to deny the bleeding obvious!

It is a lack of willingness to do whatever is necessary to file this gaping hole that makes a mockery of Madejski's past big grand words about having a genuine ambition for a speedy return to the PL.

As for the ref and East Stand Lino being absolute homers, I can only think that all the noise from the Leeds' fans deceived Kitson12 into thinking we were playing away! Some absolute shocking decisions against us culminating in that unbelievable award of a goalkick when it was obvious that only the defender's desperate clearance prevented Kebe from nodding in at the far post.

Both aforementioned officials should be sent to strike break in Scotland. Then our friends North of the border would realise that they have very little to moan about with regards to their own!

Really? Why not Jobi in the middle and Kebe and Antonio on the wings, that'd be much better.

Same old frustrating Reading.

Chance after chance yet we can't convert anything. The introduction of Kebe in the second half put us up a gear (Why didn't he start?) but nothing from our strikers once again. Draw after draw at the moment.

Leigertwood wasn't even in the game and the referee had a shocker.

Gradel should of been sent off for persistent diving and his temper. Leeds were pretty poor going forward, but decent at the back.

Federici - 6 - Not much to do.
Harte - 6 - Decent free kick in the first half. Still questions defensively.
Griffin - 7 - Better than Harte and it showed.
Pearce - 7- Done well.
Khiz - 7 - Done well. Looked to get the ball on the ground rather than heading it back.
McAnuff - 7 - Made a couple of decent runs but no end product.
Leigertwood - 5 - Really not in the game.
Karacan - 6 - Did well before having to come off.
Church - 6 - Isolated on the wing and should of been placed up front with Hunt on the wing.
Long - 7 - Good work up front but NO END PRODUCT.
Hunt - 7 - Similar to Long, drifted in and out of the game.

Cannot disagree with much of that. Just cannot help wondering how many points we would have had from the last 4 games if we had Siggy in the side. Probably 9/12 and we would at the top of the league. It will take me a long time to forgive the powers that be for that sale.

Decent game, between two average teams. Leeds do not have the quality to be pushing for promotion based on that performance. I presume Kebe wasnt match fit as otherwise why oh why did he play church. He is not a left winger. we should have started with Antonio as he has good skill and a decent cross. Last week I defended Long but was thoroughly pissed off this week. hardly won a header, kebe laid it on a plate for him twice and he fluffed his chances. Defence was excellent. have been really impressed with pearce in last two games.

Fed - 7 - good save at the end, not much else to do
Harte - 6 - poor set pieces although 90% of his defending was spot on.
griffin - 8 - thought he was excellent against the pacy Gradel. good link with Kebe.
Pearce - 8 - excellent. won every header. Becchio was very quiet.
Zurab - 9 - absolutely quality. Was so so solid. excellent first touch and good passing.
Mcanuff - 6 - first 20 minutes was promising. Drifted in and out after that and his crossing is awful.
Church - 6 - Not a winger
Karacan - 6 - decent game. nothing special
Leigertwood - 6 - Clearly has the talent, lacked match practice. grew as the game went on.
Hunt - 6 - put himself about a bit but missed a glorious chance towards the end.
Long - 6 - looked ok. poor touch with one in first half, could have had a penalty when supposedly someone handballed, but second half missed good chances.

Kebe - Legend. Have to start with him next game.

Kebe is a better finisher, and doesn't doodle on the ball. Would be nice to see one of them given a try though..

What's worrying me most is yes, we are only 3 points off the playoffs, but we are also only 4 points off being 20th.

I just hope we can push on and rise instead of fall right now.

He's better roasting the full-back and producing a cross, or cutting inside and shooting. Don't think he'd be effective through the middle/upfront.

We looked really solid with Zurab and Pearce at the back. Keep them together next match.

Thought Leigertwood was pretty good considering he hadn't started a game since April. Looks as if he can put his fut in. Promising start IMO.

Should have won that one comfortably though.

Is doodling on the ball a red or yellow card offence? Madejski certainly wouldn't be happy, unless it was Banksy it would significantly reduce the resal value of said ball!

To be pedantic, he hasn't started in the league since April. He played in the League Cup for QPR this season.
