Snowball According to the OS Long has had 56% of his shots on target, this season (compared with Gylfi's 27%)

In the whole season he has only had 15 shots off target, less than 1 a game.

Awesome.

How many has he scored?

I don't know. Could you help me out? I know he's the club's top scorer...

Let's put McAnuff up front. Or Kebe. Or Howard. or Harte. Or Kanu (nearly 72% shots on target!!!!111!!!)

In the whole season he has only had 15 shots off target, less than 1 a game.

Or conversely you can say that he's missed more shots than anyone else in our current squad...

The fact is this - he's had MORE shots on goal than anyone else in our squad, and has the worst return rate when comparing shots to goals from open play (not sure if penalties count towards shots on target)

Snowball I know he's the club's top scorer

Joint top scorer. And the other three have played less games than him.

I'm always willing to give a player a chance (I even cheered Martyn Booty once) but I'm afraid that Long is bobbins this season. Tries hard, etc. but just doesn't deliver.

Poor. Very poor.

Could have at least been Snowball admitting Long "IS" shite.

Disappointed

McAnuff would be good. He's reliable. He occasionally has an accident and the ball goes in the net,
but basically he's the most consistent player at passing the ball to the opposition keeper.

Make your mind up. Didn't you just say he'd played more games?

If we're going to have statistics we could at least have standardised statistics please. If you're giving statistics comparing shots on and off target, then either give one or the other, or both. Personally I'd rather see number of shots as that is a fairly good indicator about how often a player is in a position to possibly score. 15 shots off target, less than two a game. How many on target please Snowball...?

Gylfi has got 5 goals but we have to ignore two of them as they were penalties.

Incidentally, they must be playing him in a totally different way

This season for us he was 03 On target 08 OFF Target
Last season he was 71 On Target 60 Off [38 (05) Appearances]
He was converting 28% of his on-target shots

Combined that's 74 On target 68 Off target = 52% on target

Now, for 1891 he's 12 on 4 Off (75%) and is converting 42% of his on-target shots.

Maybe they are persuading him to shoot from a little closer?

Don't know his 5 goals but one was a free-kick and two were penalties

Why ask when you know?

19 ON 15 Off. So he's averaging a shot on target per game, a little less than a miss per game

Not shooting could also mean the player passes to a team-mate...

Gylfi was shooting all the time

in 38 (5) games he had 131 shots to get his 20 goals, about 3.6 shots per game
but remember he was taking all the penalties (9 taken, 8 scored)

Take those out 122 shots, about 3 per game, and he scored 12 goals (3 of which were FCs)

So he was scoring 1 in 10 shots. That's 110 misses and 12 goals (3 of which were FCs)

Not shooting could also mean the player passes to a team-mate...

It could also mean they squander the chance by not shooting and getting tackled by a defender, smothered by the keeper, or miscontrolling the ball out of play.........

That is why using shots as a method to show how many chances a player has is misleading. Also failing to connect with a cross can be seen as a chance.....
