But any manager who is behind the worst striker in the history of the club with ONE GOAL all season is nothing short of a pillock. Yes he might be a top striker and I used to like him so I hope he is, but on current form he makes Brayson look like Pele. If Ronaldo was playing like Long you could guarantee he'd be dropped.

The trouble is you're not a pillock, you're a top manager who has won my admiration and the admiration of many fans originally against you.

Here is the problem, and it is up to McD to sort it, 23 pros, I give Kelly the nod, just, 2 of whom Gunnarsson and Ingi injured, so really 21, 18 in a match day team and bench, despite having what appears to be a decent sized squad it only takes a couple of knocks/suspension and the 18 picks itself. How McD deals with that is by showing he is a good manager and creating competition and hunger for places, something that seems to lacking. You only have to see the highlights of Long failing to score on Saturday, and his smile after almost all of them, to see he is not worried about losing his place. And why would he be, he, as SB has pointed out is still the best we have, and now McD has said the same.

There is not one player there to set the fans hearts going week in week out. Kebe shines in spells, but it is mostly speed rather than pure skill, very much like Gilkes in his prime.

Snowball's simply making a point that even the best strikers can go through long droughts before coming good, Doyle is a prime example of that.

Whether Long has the skillset to be able to bust out of the funk is open to debate but the point is that JUST BECAUSE HE'S NOT SCORING NOW, doesn't 100% mean he's a bad striker that's incapable of going on a run.
