Brian are you REALLY a pillock?

by Millsy » 13 Dec 2010 22:32

Behind Long "one thousand percent"???? (or was it a million)

Why start a new thread? Because I want you to read this, and you know I like you.

But any manager who is behind the worst striker in the history of the club with ONE GOAL all season is nothing short of a pillock. Yes he might be a top striker and I used to like him so I hope he is, but on current form he makes Brayson look like Pele. If Ronaldo was playing like Long you could guarantee he'd be dropped.

The trouble is you're not a pillock, you're a top manager who has won my admiration and the admiration of many fans originally against you.

FFS stand up to that c*nt of a chairman and demand a striker before your reputation crumbles unfairly before you.

[Rectum Crew need not throw toys out of the Rectum on this thread, thanks. No energy to go through the bleeding obvious all again just because some of you are too damn thick or stubborn to understand. Brian knows what I mean and it's time he started showing some f**king balls.]

Question for the OP - are you drunk?

"throw toys out of the Rectum" (the strange capitalizing is important) is now my new favourite Team Board phrase, by the way. It takes the lead from Snowball's "talking out of your brown hole". Mental anally-fixated metaphors rock my world.

Childish rants containing nonsense exageration are unlikely to have any affect other than to make people think you're a cock end.

The chances of McDermott reading anything on here, let alone a thread where he's being called a pillock, and changing what he's doing because of it, are about as miniscule as the chances of me meeting Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie & Eliza Dushku tomorrow and having a rampant and extremely enjoyable foursome with them on the moon.

No, that's ridiculous. In Prospect Park, maybe, but not on the moon.

2WW1WC has a very valid point.

Long simply isn't good enough. Most of us worked that out months if not years ago. Why Brian persists in playing him is beyond me.

Man United will sell him in January and England will dump him.

Kevin Doyle has scored just one league goal this season. Wolves will send him out on loan to Wallsall

I'm not angry at mcdermott, what else can he do? Church is hardly batistuta either. Want someone to vent your anger at then the door of the chairman is where you should head.

Massive lol at the Ronaldo comment. Real madrid are a big spending european giant so even if they did drop him, they'd have ridiculous options to replace him with rendering that comparison a bit silly.

Here is the problem, and it is up to McD to sort it, 23 pros, I give Kelly the nod, just, 2 of whom Gunnarsson and Ingi injured, so really 21, 18 in a match day team and bench, despite having what appears to be a decent sized squad it only takes a couple of knocks/suspension and the 18 picks itself. How McD deals with that is by showing he is a good manager and creating competition and hunger for places, something that seems to lacking. You only have to see the highlights of Long failing to score on Saturday, and his smile after almost all of them, to see he is not worried about losing his place. And why would he be, he, as SB has pointed out is still the best we have, and now McD has said the same.

There is not one player there to set the fans hearts going week in week out. Kebe shines in spells, but it is mostly speed rather than pure skill, very much like Gilkes in his prime.

McD also showed he can be weak by bringing Mills straight back after suspension, a trait that Coppell was vociferously accused of in his last two seasons.

This team needs a re-think, it needs loyal players, a new Murty for example, and players and staff to bring belief and excitement back.

Would love to know the reasoning behind signing Williams, then loaning him straight out almost.

Hull City manager Nigel Pearson says he will continue to back striker Jay Simpson, who is still looking for his first goal for the Championship club.

Simpson, 22, joined the Tigers from Arsenal in August and has made eight appearances so far.
Pearson told BBC Radio Humberside: "Jay's having a really tough time of being able to do what he's here for.
"He's struggled to make the impact that he wants and I want but I will keep faith with him it's a simple as that."
Simpson, who scored 13 goals whilst on-loan at QPR last season, made only one senior start for Arsene Wenger's side in a 3-0 League Cup win over Wigan on 11 November 2008.

Woo-hoo, what a striker!

Three months to get his first goal, and it could so easily have not been awarded. Jamie McAllister's neat short free kick found an unmarked Pitman, whose powerful low shot initially looked like it had been cleared off the line by Richie Wellens. However, the assistant referee was quick to deem the ball had crossed the line to signal Pitman's first goal for the club since joining from Bournemouth in August.

Droughts happen to strikers. Doyle has had at least three terrible patches in his career.

Watch Long at the end of the pre-match warm up when they are having shooting practice.

It's obvious then, that Long isn't a natural finisher.

Yes but Long has had a career long drought. (bit of a fishing expedition here - stands back and waits for an avalanche of stats that 'prove' Long to be the best forward Reading have ever had  )

Snowball's simply making a point that even the best strikers can go through long droughts before coming good, Doyle is a prime example of that.

Whether Long has the skillset to be able to bust out of the funk is open to debate but the point is that JUST BECAUSE HE'S NOT SCORING NOW, doesn't 100% mean he's a bad striker that's incapable of going on a run.

Kevin Doyle has scored just one league goal this season. Wolves will send him out on loan to Wallsall

Wayne Rooney has only played 8 Premiership games, has had an injury and has obviously had off the pitch issues to deal with as well.

Kevin Doyle is going through a bad patch of goalscoring form just like Shane Long.

I know Wyc, but Pitman, Rooney, Simpson, Doyle, (remember Forlan at Man Utd?).. Morisson was being hammered by Millwall fans a couple of months ago. Virtually every striker gets a barren spell.

Never mind strikers, what about RFC as a team? Look at this run, 8 goals in 17 games, failed to score in 11 games, lost 12, drew2
