He was young and wasn't cutting it here and we let him go. He developed latter than most and has turned into a very good striker. Skysports.com understands Reading have made an offer for Swindon hot-shot Charlie Austin.

Prolific striker Austin is one of the most sought-after players in this month's transfer window following his goalscoring exploits at the County Ground.

The 21-year-old has netted a stunning 37 goals in 53 games for Swindon since arriving from Poole Town, attracting interest from a number of clubs higher up the pecking order.

Hull City have already seen a bid for Austin rejected this month and now Reading are the latest club to express an interest in the player.
