He has stated that he wants to bring Leigertwood here on a permanent basis. It has to be another player.

Khiz is still on loan isn't he? He's another option alongside Liegterwood for a loanee being made permanent.

Can't see that. Khiz is on loan til the end of the season when his contract at Blackburn expires and they've made it clear they won't renew. Free transfer ahoy, Madejski = :D

Not every player needs to be a big-name star - we need water-carriers as well, and he's cheap with potential so no problems with this signing.

Why the urgency? He's here until the summer and surplus at Blackburn. Leigertwood has impressed and McDermott has been quoted as saying he wants to sign the boy permanently.

If we agree a fee with QPR it's Leigertwood and BWP, dependant on this afternoons medical.

Just noting it as a possibility. I've never claimed to be ITK, well apart from once with Rosenior, but that was still only a rumour as far as I was concerned.

Chuffed to bits that I called this one right.

Austin was always on the cards but with one million to spend and leigerwood going to cost us 700k, we had to compromise on a striker and considering he is the top scorer in league one this is a great bit of business.

People are moaning about height, but let's be honest, Long is brilliant in the air when played up to him so those extra inches are not needed.

andROFLew1957. Seriously mate, what are you on? Club apparently attempts to fill the gaping hole we have yet still some people aren't happy. BWP, if given the opportunity, will score goals at this level and beyond, in fact he is streets ahead of many strikers in the Championship at present. Injuries have curtailed his progression but they appear to be done over with. Forget his past for now, everybody is worth a second chance (even though he wasn't convicted of anything :| ). If he scores goals, and does so on a reasonably consistent basis, provided we sign him, I for one will be happy.

Agreed. People want a new striker, then start being very picky. Wright-Phillips has pace, trickery and a decent goal record this season.

Ferris Whats his scoring record in the c'ship like?

26 goals in 126 apps.

Although more than half those appearances were as a sub and he also played out wide for Southampton.

He's had a few seasons learning his trade in the Premiership and has scored Premiership goals
scored 11 in a season in 19 (25) games for a top CCC side (Southampton making the play-offs in 2006-07

Has an overall record since becoming a real full-timer (not yet looked at his Man City days)
of a goal every other 90 minutes, and is currently top-scorer in League 1, above Austin

excluding his trainee days at Man City, he's not played a whole lot of games 66 (44)
and is 25 Years 9 months, just entering a strikers three peak years.

if he is completely over his injuries, he would be a steal at £1,000,000

Seem to remember a game vs Southampton that season were they completely outplayed us at home and BWP was excellent ...

Royalee 1 in 4 is not a perfectly good scoring record...

Its better than that.

No, it's around exactly that.

Not based on starting appearances its not. if you include the times he's come on as sub its 1 in every 4. If its based on starting appearances only its 1 in 3.

BWP is just the sort of player Reading sign and get the best out of. In spite of his dad being one of the most annoying people on the face of the Earth I don't see a problem with giving him an opportunity here.
