it's not as good as looking at the accounts and the vast majority who do and claim some sort of qualification enabling them to understand them are the ones who say there is no mystery. It's mostly the people who don't quote the accounts and just talk about guesstimated headline figures, with limited discussion on outgoings who talk about a mystery disapperance.

I'm always staggered by how much more we spent on players in the Prem than I thought we did, when you add up all those bargain basement punts it adds another couple of million or so.

2007/08, 57.698, 6.706

2006/07, 49.909, 6.573

Total turnover while in the Prem = £107.607m. Since relegation we've received 23m in parachute payments. No "extra" 140m there.

i see very little point in discussing it with anyone, until they show me they can read a simple statement, take the salient points, and understand them.


read the accouints, or read star liasons summary, then come back and ask questions, we can discuss it till the cows come home.

but if the question starts by saying:
we earned "140 million in extra income"
JM has taken the money and ploughed it into his other businesses/filled his bank account
"where has all the money gone"
or any of that youll have to find someone else to chat to

I can't claim to know...well, anything about running a football club...but I'm fairly certain we have shareholders. And if we have shareholders and Madejski WAS pocketing all of the available cash, wouldn't they all be kicking off about a lack of dividends?
