Royal Rother He is one of the better English players but has been hugely over-rated. World class? Do me a bloody favour. Except for his diving, I'll give him that; there are few in world football better in that department.

Ark Royal Jeez, I have seen Blackpool play better than that and they still had more than enough to beat 'Pewl. They were dire. To think that Raul Meireles cost the Scousers TWENTY THREE times as much as Blackpool paid for the superb Charlie Adams.
On that performance, Liverpool are certainly bad enough to go down.

Charlie Adam-if he continues with his form shown so far this season he could well be Player of the year.
There are just so few ball-playing midfielders in English football today-most teams go for power players rather than artists.
A shame really and one of the many reasons why we don't win world cups.

Nobody said he was "world class" just the best of British.
The two are very different as we have had so few "world class" players in the last 40 years if any.
See world cup records.

+1000001SLAMMED I can't see Dalglish doing anything more with the set of players he's got than Hodgson did.
Maybe the reason they are playing badly is their players...

Royal Rother His long passing is very much hit and miss.

philM There was a good article in the Sunday Times last week questioning why clubs don't seem to let the manager sack under-performing players rather than always sacking the manager.

It's frustrating to see so many managers get the boot as they do but players never getting the same treatment.

It's not really though. I had this discussion with Wax Jacket before, I think, the last England game.
Gerrard can be a little sloppy with the short stuff and obviously isn't going to get a 100% completion rate on long passes, but he's still very good at it. Up there with most. The difference with Gerrard is that usually he looks to play his long passes quickly and that makes it a little more difficult to perfect.

cmonurz Then perhaps blame Hodgson. For all his faults, Benitez at least recognised Gerrard's worth as an attacking player, and used him 'in the hole' behind Torres.
