Reading left-back Marcus Williams has rejected the chance to join League One side Carlisle United on a month's loan.
Williams only joined Reading last summer from Scunthorpe United, but has made just five appearances during his time at the Madejski Stadium.
He recently had a loan spell at Peterborough United, but has turned down the opportunity of another stint in League One with Carlisle.
The 24-year-old was wanted by the Cumbrians to help tighten things up in defence, however, Williams is hoping to force he way back in to the Reading team and feels settled in the south.
Reading had been happy for Williams to regain match sharpness at Carlisle after agreeing a loan deal but Cumbrians boss Greg Abbott will now have to pursue other options.
"The only position we need during the transfer window is a left-back," Abbott told skysports.com.
"I've got two or three in mind and we are taking to various clubs about them.
"Ideally we want somebody in for Saturday, but that's looking unlikely at the moment."
